My 5 day vacation is coming to an end (stories. dont tell my wife)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Got the call today, my vacation is over, my family comes home tomorrow. My wife and son went to visit her grandmother for a few days and to learn more quilt skills and "left me at home to watch the animals and go to work". Don't tell them a hermit doesn't mind staying home. Spent the last 4 days playing with my garden experiment, net surfing and blowing out my ears to my CDs (Clancy Bros, Dubliners, Irish Rovers). Its great not having a 10 yr old ask "why I listen to that". Can hardly wait till spring when she goes again. (of course you know she has relitives on line "watching me". :)

Sounds like my kind of music, esp. the Dubliners and the Irish Rovers. The rest of the world just lacks taste, huh? (;O) !!!!) I tried hinting REALLY heavily that I wanted the "Best of the Chieftans" for Christmas, but the job didn't get done; guess I'll havve to buy it on my own!!!!

Nick couch potatos it,watching old movies, usually Grease or maybe a Star Trek, and listens to Gene Pitney ,when I'm gone. He's a little hard of hearing,so it's always turned up really loud when I come in the door. And,it's always Gene Pitney.

And of course,I can walk in the door and tell exactly what him and the dogs have been up to the whole time.Absolutely Nothing. So,he gets a vacation, too.

The really funny part that I forgot to include in the main was how I got up to the alarm which I never hear. Our hound knows she gets a treat and goes out when I get up, so for the last five days, she took it on herself to roll me out of bed with her cold nose and a nip on the backside or shoulder. That will get you up and running!

My dream vacation is everyone would leave and I would stay home alone for at least 5 days.I could get so much done, and the quite would be soooooooo nice.

A few days alone. I think I may be just a little jealous. Especially the Clancy Brothers part. Almost all of my Clancy Brothers are on LP and more then a little worn. There are times I have asked my loving husband to give me the gift of a day at home alone with no children. AS for the ten year old, give her a bit of time. When my teenager joined the army he wrote home and asked me to make tapes of the Clancy Brothers and Kris Kristofferson for him.

I gotta have my Irish. I think my favorites are the Clancys and the Chieftains. Right now I have the Chieftains "An Irish Evening" playing now. Naomi Griffith complements their style quite well.

Leann, I bought "Best of the Chieftains" for a road trip a couple of years ago. It was great! But best listening of all, was when I was driving to school in the morning this past fall...esp. if I had a test at 9:00! I would crank up the tape, and get all fired up! Great music. (I can't help it, it's in my genes!)

This past November I was home alone for 10 days - total bliss. My husband went with the kids to visit my grandma and Dad. It was just wonderful!! Of course I love them dearly but it is just ever so relaxing being home alone!!
