well the weatherman has said we are about to get a noreaster the worst type of storm for us in the winter. We are about 3 hrs.from the coast and 2 hrs. from the mountians so we get squished in the middle. The snow amount so far is 6-12 in.dending the wind.The animals were all very quiet today in an odd way,even the wild ones played it low key. the geese were heading south by the flock full. We deceide to move the calves and pony inside due to the fact their shed was not set up to handle the noreasters ,they walked in no fuss no dragging me around even that ----- steer calf who still falls down when led.Kinda makes me get the willies,they know something!The milk jugs are full of water ,the freezer is packed w/ extra bags of ice to keep it cool and the hay is all ready for feed time and we got a cord of wood cut this afternoon. well maybe i will have some nice quiet time w/ the kids and lots of wet mittens and snowpants.! I still think the animals know more then we do!

Could be worse , we are getting hit in NY .We where suppose to drive to Ct tonight but the well pump went out again ! I ditched my truck again .We might go away on Sat but we are suppose to get snow and CT is getting the nor easter.I am so used to snow its not funny .It has been snowing almost every day for 2 weeks .On the up side seed catalogs are coming .We are safe and warm with food in the house .

Patty ever consider a dog sled? haha...My husband is getting ready to sleep so he can be in town by 5 am for snow removal,I am on my own until it stops. I kinda like it it lets me know i can do it all by myself.

I wouldn't mind being snowed in for a while .I would also like new tires for my truck ! I have never had an accident in the snow ,ice or rain until this year and lets just say I am over 25.

They're playing it safe here-8 to 16 inches, more or less. I have to work, lucky me, I get to drive home in it at 6pm. Patty, I know what you mean about it snowing every day! The last two winters were so mild, we got spoiled, I guess. I don't mind a blizzard, long as I don't have to drive in it.

One thing I love about the snow is when I get up early in the morning and look out over the snow and it is SO QUIET. More quiet than any other time. Absolute Peace

Getting round bales of hay out to the herd hasn't been a big problem so far, but having to break ice off of their drinking hole once or twice a day is a pain.

Snowed here yesterday afternoon. About 10PM it sounded like it was raining, but it may have been a light hale shower instead. Have no idea what roads are like, but then I don't have to go anywhere either. Invited down to a friends house for New Years afternoon, but I may cancel that depending on the roads. Having lived in Ohio, I still remember how to drive on icey roads. Locals don't have a clue.

I saw on the weather channel the snow is all over Tennessee too. This is wierd, it's not getting above freezing here at all still. It's cold and more cold comming. This wood I have dosen't burn too well, cedar and stinky oak of some kind, absolutely no ashes, no coals left, just the grate. I got up at 4 and the fire was out again. Please let it warm up some down here.

well we got NOOOO snow at all not 1 flake!!! sure wish i could be that wrong and still get paid the big bucks! Around 11 they called off all snow for us,but the folks living north of here are getting it pretty bad...stay safe well my thoughts on the animals knowing more is way off too,I will change it to If we are good and act real cute we can go in sleep in the barn get extra hay and treats ...maybe they do know to much!

No snow here yet, 9am Sat. but it's supposed to start soon. We haven't come anywhere near above freezing temps. for a while, either, and even here in NY that's a little unusual. Seems like it's been 12 degrees for weeks!! Bundle up everybody!

The snow is comming down here this morning. Forcast is snow for 3 days, dry 2, then more snow. Maybe 39 by Wednesday, maybe. Do you think I can teach all by Border Collies to pull a dog sled! We got a big wood furnace we can sit outside, used, and now today we have to go GET it somehow, and SET IT UP somehow, in all this snow. I will get my wheelbarrow and get every piece of junk wood on this farm if I have to, to keep warm, he he.

Cindy, yes, you can teach your Border Collies to pull a dog-sled!! My friend in Alaska has used her Aussies for years. And my husband was telling me the other day about someone around here who has a team of Border Collies!

It is 1 pm Saturday here and the snow started about an hour ago, it's coming down pretty heavy now. We haven't gotten much yet this year, so I'm glad to see it coming, as we want to use our snowshoes. But I've very thankful that I'm not working this weekend. It's bad enough coming home in the wee hours of the morning without adding a snowstorm.

Renee, the pattern the last few years seems to have been that the storms usually go south of us -- maybe it's finally reversed!!

Hey Cindy, no snow here in southeastern Tenn. We got just a very very light dusting this morning. We've had a total of 2-3 inches this year and have missed all the ice western Tenn. and South of us have been hit with. Seems like the mountains are diverting it away from us this year. Which is just as well, because when it snows, we have absolutely no trucks out salting these curvy, steep roads! (which makes for a great excuse to stay at home and keep warm!) Enjoy the snow everyone!!!!!

Nearly 7:00 pm here in CT, the snow has stopped after delivering 12+ inches. I Love It! The kids were out in it almost all day (my STRONG suggestion:-)), and I got to putter around the house with the oldies station playing in the background, a BIG pot of split pea soup on the wood stove, and both woodstoves cranking out the BTU's. Went out once to shovel a path around the house to the chicken coop, filled their waterer with nice warm H20, spread some bird seed out on the snow for the wild ones and enjoyed the quiet hush that only snow seems to bring. Waiting now for hubby to arrive from work (the O.T.'s nice, but I hate to think of him driving in the snow with all the idiots that bad weather seems to bring out!), he spent the past 12 hours pushing the drifts back, only to have the wind push 'em back where they were! Well, the house'll be toasty warm when he gets in, and a big bowl of soup to warm his innards.

Aaaaahhhhh, this is the best - and some people wonder why we homestead!?! They just don't know, and they probably never will. Their loss, eh?

Patty, that's why they call it "the snow belt" up where you live! I used to live in NE Ohio, and I don't miss it at all! We get just enough snow to make winter interesting here, don't miss shoveling many feet of snow at all, my relatives in Garrett county MD., are expecting another winter of +265 inches of snow, so it could be worse :-) !!!

I know that the weather problems are hard to deal with. I have been envolved to extensive research to get an oveview of why these weather conditions are getting worse and worse Yr by yr. Eventhough I have tryed to bring what I know Is responsible for much, if not most of these suvere weather events to some responsible persons attention, We are still at the starting gate, and it is getting worse. No one is paying attention it seems. Notice when the space shuttle is launched! It take a while for the chemicals to get organized with what is already in the air from previous space vehicle launches,In My view, What You are whitnessing is the results of bad science. Scientist blame everything imaginable for what is happening in the weather, We are paying a large bill by being subjected to these worstening storms a0nd floods. My research indicates that it is going to increase very rapidly now because the build-up of Rocket fuel exhaust chemicals long ago has already passed the danger state. Nothing will be done to solve the problem because it is obvious that no one is even looking. I Would like input from those who have noticed a resonable suspitious conection between Scace Vehicle launches and extream weather conditions. You've got to take notice or You've got to pay the bill! Nasa and other space orginations will not (in My view) even consider the obvious conection. Besides My research I am a working man, I feel for You when I see You In so much trouble. All the letters I have written in the past have fallen of deaf ears. I know that what is happening now will increase with extream force. There is nothing I can do but try to bring it to Your attention and hope somehow You will get the picture and take stepps to help correct the problem. I think You should take notice and see for Yourself That as Space Vehicles are launched The weather and Health conditions will be effected.
