With all the snow lately, esp. in areas that don't get much, this would be a good time to check your farm insurance policy and shovel your roofs. We are covered by a major co., but found out Saturday that our farm policy does not cover roof failure due to excessive snow or ice load on outbuildings. How did we find out, you ask? Our pole barn roof is now sitting inside the barn rather than over the top of it. I'm not complaining, just warning. It was a structure built by the previous owner and considering the other repairs I've made due to his "interesting" costruction techniques I should be surprized it took this long to fail. At least it will give me tha chance to build what I want rather than continue to modify what we had. Happy New Year, everyone.

Good Point Ray!!! My dear one has been out shoveling our barn roof off and on for days. I don't think many insurances do cover that sort of damage to out buildings.

Texas Farm Bureau Ins sent me a note saying they will begin covering snow and ice for an aditional premium.Since we live south of Houston wont waste the money on snow ins here, but may insyre the oklahoma roof (we have 120 acres there too). Other states with FB ins may follow the lead here.A safe New Year to u.
