I recently purchased a maine coon kitten and was wondering if neutering was a good idea. Questions I have are, does it effect playfulness,activity level,and genereral personality? Thank you.

Unless you are an experienced breeder with a plan to improve the breed, your cat should be neutered no later than six months of age. It does not change their personality in any way and will stop unwanted behavior, such as howling whenever he smells a female cat in heat within 10 miles of your home!
