The mortgage was joint and a negative equity debt was incurred when the property was sold by the lender. The two purchasers are no longer in contact and the debt is being repaid by at least one of the parties. Does that party have a right to know if the other party is paying anything. I have asked the Halifax but they tell me I have no right to know but then tell me that the debt is a joint and separate liability. If its a joint debt surely both parties have a right to know whats going on with it throughout??
