What's your sign?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
I was wondering w/ all the intrest in planting by the moon and all what is everyone? I wonder if we are going to fit under the same group or not. We HB and I are both Taurus. He is the first day of it and I the 2nd to last.
-- renee oneill{md.} (oneillsr@home.com), January 04, 2001
Renee:Last time I checked it was "I am stupid."
-- Ken S. in WC TN (scharabo@aol.com), January 04, 2001.
Ken took mine already. How about then, maybe "Don't tread on me"? Actually Fiery Aries, born April 1st, married to a hot-blooded Leo.
-- sharon wt (wildflower@ekyol.com), January 04, 2001.
I'm a stubborn, strong willed--uh, make that I enjoy the strengths of my convictions--Taurus. My good husband is a Libra but he definitely has some Taurus in there somewhere. We've survived 26+ years of marriage because we each know when to shut up or back off when the other can't. What's more fun is that both of us are the first born of our families.
-- marilyn (rainbow@ktis.net), January 04, 2001.
I live by the sigh of The Culpeper Minute Men.
-- JLS in NW AZ (stalkingbull007@AOL.com), January 04, 2001.
Unfortunately, same as Ken's.
-- Annie Miller in SE OH (annie@1st.net), January 04, 2001.
Ken and Annie ,what are you talking about?
-- renee oneill{md.} (oneillsr@home.com), January 04, 2001.
Another strong, opinionated women, yep Taurus!
-- Vicki McGaugh TX (vickilonesomedoe@hotmail.com), January 04, 2001.
Virgo, but I seem to lack some of the traits commonly associated with the sign, such as being very organized!
-- Rebekah (daniel1@itss.net), January 04, 2001.
Scorpio, through and through. (Nov. 15)
-- Cathy in NY (hrnofplnty@yahoo.com), January 04, 2001.
Taurus sun sign, Taurus earth sign, and Capricorn moon sign. I am married to a Taurus, too. But I think if there was a lot of validity to this, we would never get anything done around here... we would just be eating and drinking and singing all the time. Hey, wait a minute...
-- sheepish (WA) (rborgo@gte.net), January 04, 2001.
Help wanted.....Ummm, astrologically - Virgo. Married to a Saggitarius, kid is Gemini and Pop is Taurus, best bud is Pisces. Pop and I are the gardeners in the family - no surprizes there.
-- Polly (tigger@moultrie.com), January 04, 2001.
My sign is "You must be this tall (wave hand just above questioner's head) to get on the ride."
-- Soni (thomkilroy@hotmail.com), January 04, 2001.
Aquarius--the water carrier! With this freezing weather it seems I am living up to it! I carry water to the cows- to the dogs and to the birds 3 times a day! I didn't know that's what it meant until a few days ago! LOL!
-- Debbie T in N.C. (rdtyner@mindspring.com), January 04, 2001.
Sign? Do you mean astrology? Sorry, I prefer Christianity.
-- Don Armstrong (darmst@yahoo.com.au), January 04, 2001.
Ok I am not asking for your SS# ,my goodness are we all getting a little testy?Could it be the weather? I just thought it would be neat to see what sign most of us fell under, but I guess I asked to much. Yes I am being testy and yes its the weather!
-- renee oneill{md.} (oneillsr@home.com), January 04, 2001.
Hubby and I are both Libras, both homebodies. I am the gardener though and a little closer to the scorpio cusp he's closer to the virgo. Maybe that is why I am also mouthier than him too
-- Terri (terri@tallships.ca), January 04, 2001.
Renee, I thought everyone was joking and got many much needed laughs. My favorite sign is LAB CROSSING. Besides that I'm a messed-up Pisces sun sign with a Leo moon sign- what a combination. And I was born so close to the Aquarius cusp no one seems to be sure where I belong. I have to admit I'm a believer because many years ago I had a horoscope done by someone who didn't know me at all, never met me. The guy who set it up worked with me but didn't know me well either. The horoscope turned out to be exact even though at the time there were misses. It was very accurate in some things and in the long run it turned out completely accurate.
-- Peg (nw WI) (wildwoodfarms@hushmail.com), January 04, 2001.
Same as you renee, Taurus. Now, you'd think ole Ken would know better than to mess with a stubborn old Taurus, wouldn't ya? :)
-- Annie (mistletoe@earthlink.net), January 04, 2001.
Libra..and I am far from well balanced!
-- Lynn (mscratch1@semo.net), January 04, 2001.
My sign reads "Forgiven!" Glory to God! ----Welcome back Don! Matt. 24:44
-- hoot (hoot@pcinetwork.com), January 04, 2001.
"KICK ME"
-- Doreen (animalwaitress@excite.com), January 04, 2001.
Taurus. Kind of interesting there are so many tauruses here. I can tell you this taurus is so happy to be living on the old homestead then I ever was in the city with all the trappings.

-- kelly (kellytree@hotmail.com), January 05, 2001.
A couple of questions for those who are really into astrology. How would a very fundamental Christian view it? Perhaps there would be no conflict if God created everything and impacts on humans by the planets and stars are just part of the grand plan.
Does it only apply to humans. For example, if a cat or dog was born in March, might it have a different personality than one born in September? Can you then selectively breed for personality?
How is it viewed in other cultures, such as Asian and Islamic? China seems to have something similar, except it goes by year of birth, rather than sign period. Is astrology only part of the Western culture?
Are astrological signs and planting by the stages of the moon (if that is the correct expression) in any way related?
-- Ken S. in WC TN (scharabo@aol.com), January 05, 2001.
Although I don't believe in the astrological signs as having any bearing on anything, I do know that I'm an Aquarius...actually, I don't even know how to spell it!! Is that right?? :-)
-- jimR (jymcyn@earthlink.net), January 05, 2001.
Ken, that's a handful... I used to be really into it and I can say that there are some characteristics that tend to run true, but when people look to it to determine everything including whom they should marry or how their day is going to be it does two things...takes preeminnence over God making it idolatry and transfers your mindset to being one of a predtermination wherein there is nothing that you can do to manifest changes. There is a book that I want to get by James Kennedy that explains God's design of the zodiac. I don't have all of the answers to your questions, but it is something I am going to look into from the "other side" as it were.
I believe that God hung the stars in the heavens to tell us a story and give us direction. I worship Him and not the constellations.
To be fair I will tell you what my mix is: Scorpio, Leo rising, Libra moon. Now you can make some assertions via astrology on that but you can't figure out all the other houses and determine the finer aspects of the entire chart. In other words, you can go, 'oh yeah, I can see where that shows from all of her whacky posts!', but you still can't "know" me. Does that make sense?
-- Doreen (animalwaitress@excite.com), January 05, 2001.
When the trees are budding and the grass is growing. That's my sign.
-- hillbilly (internethillbilly@hotmail.com), January 05, 2001.
Another Taurus, married to a Leo. The homestead thing is definately mine but he's begining to come around.
-- Dian (rhoffman@nctc.com), January 05, 2001.
Marty the Libra here. Born 10/3. Randy, my husband is a Leo. He likes the grass and trees, and I like the critters and veggie gardens.Seems to me that there are a lot of Taurus homesteaders. A few Libra's, few others, and we're all here reading and writing and waiting (sigh) for springtime.
Come on crocus, give me a sign!
-- Marty (Mrs.Puck@Excite.com), January 05, 2001.
Libra on the true cusp of Scorpio (born 2 minutes before the sign changed), with Leo rising and a Taurus moon. And I think the sign of a jinx somewhere in there too. LOL
-- Green (ratdogs10@yahoo.com), January 05, 2001.
Another Scorpio here! I also have quite a bit of Sagitarius in my chart (rising sign, moon sign, and several planets) which I say makes me be not quite as scary as your typical Scorpio, but I still think that my poor Virgo hubby wonders what he's got himself into!In Chinese astrology I'm the sign of the packrat! hehehehe
Sherri in IN
-- Sherri C (CeltiaSkye@aol.com), January 05, 2001.
My favorite sign hangs in a friends kitchen "A Clean House is the Sign of a Wasted Life"
-- Mona in OK (jascamp@ipa.net), January 05, 2001.
How about "Never trust a skinny cook".
-- diane (gardiacaprines@yahoo.com), January 05, 2001.
I have two favorite signs in my house. One is in my sewing room and says "Dull women have immaculate homes." The other says, "The more I know people, the better I like my pets."The other sign in my sewing room says "Love Honor and Negotiate."
-- marilyn (rainbow@ktis.net), January 05, 2001.
My favorite sign in my house is "Cleaned my house yesterday - wish you coulda seen it!"My astrological sign is Pisces and hubby's is Leo. Go figure THAT out - and we actually get along famously! :-)
-- Judi (ddecaro@snet.net), January 05, 2001.
Boy I feel odd . . . I'm a Capricorn, any others out there? Maybe I've chosen the wrong lifestyle for my sign. That might account for the struggle I seem to be having lately!! (with frozen water, machinry that won't run, sick animals, etc.)
-- Betsy K (betsyk@pathwaynet.com), January 05, 2001.
I'm a Leo. I don't know much about the particulars of astrology but I do know it can be a very complicated "science". Its been around for a really long time and has been in use as a predictor around the world for millenia, long before Chistianity. In fact it wouldn't surprise me to learn that some of the biblical symbolism is based, at least in part, on astrology.Yeah Ken, personally I think there is some kind of link to astrology and the moon planting, just as there appears to be with human behavior and moon phases.
-- john leake (natlivent@pcpros.net), January 06, 2001.
John leake I agree with you again ! after all were not the wise men following a star when we they went to worship the new born king? As for me I am a Pices with a Gemini moom and Venus rising.
-- (trendlespin@msn. com), January 06, 2001.
Saggitarius all the way.............
-- Earthmama (earthmama48@yahoo.com), January 06, 2001.
my sign? " will work for food"
-- gene ward (gward34847@aol.com), January 07, 2001.
I would have a sign like Hoots, Forgiven by the blood that was shed for me. All glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
-- Judy (allsmile@ctnet.net), January 07, 2001.
I was born in November so... iguess that means Scorpio...
-- redhen (redhen@fiberia.com), January 07, 2001.
Oh Diane! I am skinny and I can't cook much except toasted cheeses! And cereal and toast. I am a June baby. Gemini, but I don't have a twin, and I haven't had a match since Superwoman died!
-- Cindy in Ky (solidrockranch@msn.com), January 07, 2001.
I'm a Leo sun, with Aquarius moon and Pisces rising. Looks like Peg and I ought to get along well! And I was born in the sign of the Black Horse in the year of the Water Dragon (Chinese astrology).
-- Joy F (dragnfly@chorus.net), January 08, 2001.
Here's a sign I saw in a 2-table eatery last summer: If you are what you eat, I'm cheap, fast & easy. Me? Aquarius with libra rising and moon in Cancer.
-- Sam in W.Va. (turnip55a@yahoo.com), January 08, 2001.
I'm a Libra and hubby is a Scorpio. We both like the homesteading life equally.
-- Colleen (pyramidgreatdanes@erols.com), January 08, 2001.
Betsy- don't feel so alone - I'm a Capricorn too, and we are uniquely suited to this life. We take everything back to it's beginning (OK, so we make life harder that it needs to be). If we want a new sweater we start thinking of what kind of sheep to raise to get the wool to spin into the yarn to knit the sweater we want.As for my sign - there is one in my front drive that says "Visitor Parking" The one over the barn door says "Ewe's Welcome"
-- Maggie's Farm (elemon@peacehealth.org), January 08, 2001.
Gemini. Schizo all the way. I love the country and all it's ramifications AND hate it too. Especially at 6p on a bitter cold day when you have to go feed and carry water to cranky animals. Now don't the rest of you agree with me! I hate that. No, wait! I don't...Spring is just around the corner of your mind.....
-- Gailann Schrader (gtschrader@aol.com), January 10, 2001.
My sign? Bless this Mess! Giggle! Really i believe that there is a connection between planting and the moon. I think moon phases affect many things like peoples moods and actions. Truth be told, i am an Aquarius and i read something alittle profound one day in a newspaper. It said Aquarius~Idealistic and inventive, you move to your own rhythm. You want it done your way. Who cares what other's think. Being different is a compliment. Did somebody say homesteader?
-- Shau Marie Miller (shau@centurytel.net), January 10, 2001.
I am a shameful and sometimes shameless, libra/sun, leo/rising, aquarius/moon, living in the Bluegrass state....
-- angie (aliaslux@aol.com), June 05, 2001.
Ides of Jan. Ides of July, capricorn/dragon, former satanist/ witch married to a cancer/rabbit, former missionary bapist both redeemed by the blood of the lamb and spirit filled! Go figure all that out!, I've done it all folks, faith in Jesus works the best! And WAY better than 666, no 'do overs' on that one. The signs of the times are ever more evident.
-- Thumper (slrldr@aol.com), June 06, 2001.
I love this kind of post! My birth sign is Taurus. There seem to be alot of us; maybe because we're earth signs! My other sign is: "If Mama ain't happy - ain't nobody happy!"Thanks for the smiles!
-- Dianne in Mass (dianne.bone@usa.net), June 06, 2001.
I'm a "goat" (what else!!) married to a "fish"!!! Makes for an interesting combo sometimes:-)!
-- Marcia (HrMr@webtv.net), June 06, 2001.
