Home Looking For a MC Catgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Maine Coon Cats : One Thread |
Hi there: We are a family in the Dallas, Texas area. We have four children, three adopted. Our two youngest (girls) are handicapped: our four year old has Spina Bifida and a number of other medical problems as well as just one leg, and gets around the house by crawling and in her wheelchair outside the house. Her sister, age 2, has cerebral palsy, doesn't walk or talk yet, and is missing the left half of her brain. All of our kids are wonderful, and all love cats (especially the girls). I have heard how fantastic MC's are as pets and with children, and I would love to make one part of our family. We have a lot of debt from the adoptions and the medical care and therapy, so we wouldn't be able to pay a lot. If there is anyone out there that is interested in helping us out, email me (also feel free to pass this on to anyone you think may be interested). I would be happy to provide references, or come visit you if you live in the area. Thanks!Linda

Linda: What a great blessing the children must be to you! I don't want to sour you on maine coons, as I love the cats, but please be careful that you get very healthy one(s). We have two girls, 6 and 8, and got them MC kitties to be their companions, but they have been very ill - respriatory problems, ringworm, and now an odd undiagnosed neuro-toxin problem, and it seems the lives of these cats are limited, and it does work a hardship on my wife and girls. God bless you and your family! Mike
