New reality show involving sperm donors possiblegreenspun.com : LUSENET : FRL friends : One Thread |
The creators of the reality TV phenomenon Big Brother are considering a new TV show in which unmarried women choose between potential sperm donors.Netherlands-based Endemol productions are in discussions about the new programme, believed to have the working title I Want Your Baby, which is still at the planning stage.
A spokeswoman for the company's UK office told BBC News Online: "It is just a discussion - there's no format."
Big Brother, in which 10 contestants were forced to live together in an isolated house under the gaze of TV cameras, helped spark a global wave of reality TV programmes.
'Hundreds of ideas'
Since then, programmes such as Survivor, Jail Break, The Mole, Castaway, Temptation Island and Hands On a Truck have pushed the boundaries of the genre.
An Endemol spokesman said: "There are hundreds of ideas. We aim to produce shows which people talk about, but we don't wish to harm anyone and with a subject like this you have to be careful.
"It certainly wouldn't take the form of a quiz show or anything like that."
One report said the new programme would involve a woman in her 40s choosing between men willing to donate sperm so she could conceive through artificial insemination.

Boy! I can hardly imagine a duller show than that. Women in their 40's don't have the easiest time getting pg through IVF, and less of a chance through insemination. Folks won't want to keep checking back month after unsuccessful month to see if "it took".Hubby and I much prefer the show "Junkyard Wars" where 2 teams of guys gather stuff from a junkyard and build various things to do various things. Very fun. We also hear it's a big hit with the Aussies and Brits. (It's a BBC show)

Oh Sis, yer gonna love this. Junk Yard Wars has it's own forum right here on LUSENET. It's awesome too, a lot of the actual participants from the show post there, along with some of the producers. I love that show!
