Miniaturized Leica cameras which takes real picture are hot in Japan . Following the miniaturized Leica IIIf, Megahouse-Sharan of Japan makes another miniaturized Leica M3 camera using Minox 8x11mm filmAFAIK, the Leica IIIf 8x11 camera is selling like hot cake, and brings hard cash for Leica Camera of Solms

Sure is cute, but I can't imagine what you would actually do with it except display it like some nick nack.

Looks like a much nicer job than the IIIf, doesn't it? Almost makes me want one :-)

Looks ideal for people who want to pretend they're interested in photography.

Megahouse Sharan only makes miniature replicas of top notched names.A Japan compnay chooses to make miniatures of IIIf and M3 and Nikon F is an indication of the high esteem Leica enjoys (Japan makes a lot of other fine cameras, such as Pentax, Olympus etc but Sharan does not make any such replica )
It is a facet of the Leica phenomenon.

That's great news. People should be spending their money on "names" instead of photographs or photography. Those "names" will fit well on the shelf right next to their Faberge eggs.

what phenomenon?

If this experience isn't a phenomenon then I don't know what is.

Yeah--I'm with Jeff---heaven forbid that we should ever do anything for fun once in a while. Well, back to my lunch of water and mineral- rich rocks.

LOL! How much is it? Where will it be available - only in Japan or in other countries too?regards,
Ray
-- Ray Moth (ray_moth@yahoo.com), January 25, 2001.
Ray, AFAIK, the Megahouse-Sharan M3 is currently only available in Japan. The Leica IIIf model is sold in USA Leica IIIf I believe the M3 will not be far behind, probably waiting for Leica Camera to do some modification( change the lens and other cosmetics ), the price may be about the same as the miniature Leica IIIf.
According to people who owns the IIIf, it takes decent pictures.

Miniature M3,IIIf are selling like hot cake. Ooops, someone's "photographs" do not sell.Sour grape philosopy
-- martin tai (martin.tai@capcanada.com), January 28, 2001.
If you are referring to me, my photographs are selling fine. I have an upcoming show in San Jose in February at Cafe NoNo, for anyone interested. My photos can be seen here. Grant's Post a Photo thread let us know where other people have their photos. I suggest everyone check it out.The only way anyone would know how they are selling is by seeing my tax returns. To suggest that one knows without that is lunacy.
