Looking through the message boards, I now understand that the main goal of the show is to teach, particularly younger viewers. If that is the goal of the show why is it on from 9pm to 11pm here is Southern California? You could reach younger viewers at a earlier time or even during the afternoon time slots. I would hope that JYW could compete against cartoons.

I think that this latest American series is going to become re-runs shown on TLC sometime around March or April. Sunday's at 6pm.....That's what I heard??? also...Maybe it is shown later so little kids won't see it....I worry about kids who are too young trying to build an underwater breathing aparatus, or a trebuchet after seeing the show and end up in some real danger. I can see a kid getting in trouble for hitting a baseball thru someones window, but a pumpkin? That's some serious shi_!

I dunno about you but I mannaged to get plenty of Ideas from the Evil library when I was a kid. I built arquebus (Honking Big Crossbow) from a picture in History Textbook. Would put bolt thru junk car. Great fun!

I was just thinking of thier liability. I get your point though. I remember watching an old Disney movie " Those magnificent men in thier flying machines". I came home from that show and built a set of plywood wings, strapped them on the bottom side of my arms...right up into my armpits/ I'm sure the neighbors were laughing thier heads off as I jumped from the first story roof and flailed around on the grass after just about ripping both my arms off.

Ya know, come to think of it, I was in 4th grade....I guess that's more like 9 years old. It was still stupid. My partner on the show, Ken, jumped off his parents deck with a big picnic umbrella when he was a kid. Yow!

Flight Story

My brother and I use to find the highest fence posts out on the dairy farm where I grew up and we would use towels for our "parachutes" as we jumped. Didn't work too well but we were sure we could feel it slow us down.

It is good to see that I wasn't the only one doing "less than safe" experimenting as a kid. I am sure the statue of limitation has passed on them as well.... I know we live in a litigious society, but I hope that the reason JYWs isn't on at an earlier time because of lawsuit concerns! All the ideas we tried didn't come from TV. Looking back most of my bright ideas were exactly that, mine. So I still put my vote, please no chad jokes, for JYW at an earlier time.
