Am looking for information on/availability of Albert Furniture Co., of Shelbyville, Ind. They made furniture in what I believe was called "Waterfall" style. Am also interested in hardware for deco furniture.

Michael... I am in the same boat as you but you have been there longer. I have been trying to find info about Albert Furniture Co. of Shelbyville, Ind. Have you had any luck?? If so would you please pass your info on to me? My father has a Dinet Set that was made before 1940. I would like to find some info on this furniture. I am also looking for info on Albert Furniture Co. found a lady's dressing table in a house we purchased. I have contacted Appraisers from the Antiques roadshow and they cannot or will not help. I have written to the Secretary of State and have gotten no reply on when this business may have operated. Just got an e-mail from Mayors office advising to contact Grover Musuem. Somebody out there must know something to help us.

Just bought an old mahogany china cabinet manufactured by Albert Furniture Co, Shelbyville, Indiana. The label also says "made for Storn & Co, Pittsburgh, PA. Have no idea if this will help. I, too, am looking for more info. Will let you know if I find anything.

I PURCHASED A HOUSE AND WITH IT CAME A ALBERT FURNITURE CO. DRESSER WITH A BEAUTIFUL ROUND MIRROR. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHERE TO FIND ITS VALUE. IT HAS THE #700 ON THE BACK. I AM UNSURE OF ITS AGE. THE HARDWARE ON THE DRAWERS I DON'T BELIEVE ARE ORIGINALS. THE MIRROR IS ROUND WITH SMALL DECO DESIGN AT TOP MATCHING THE DESIGN IN THE DRESSER ITSELF. I purchased a complete 1930's waterfall bedroom set a few years ago in Chicago, IL - from the grandchildren of the original owner. I have attempted for several years to obtain a value - no luck. However, any antique appraiser I've had look at it agree the best price you'd get would be from east coast. If you watch "Friends" closely on tv - there is a waterfall dresser in the apartment seen from across the couch. Maybe someone with ties to the set designers for the show could help.

I have a dining room set from the Albert Furnitur Co. It was my grandparents. I beleive they bought in the eary 1900's. I have searched everywhere. we contacted the historical society where albert's furniture was located. this is ALL the info they have on "ALBERT'S FURNITURE"

"Albert Furniture Co. - Business started by a Mr. Root and Albert Kahn about 1900. Became the Albert Furniture Co. in 1912. Company was forced into receivership in 1957. Made bedroom and dining room furniture." I remember the company because my step grandfather was the watch man there and we kids would go over and go on his rounds with him when the factory was closed on the weekends. we, too have recently purchased a bedroom set at a furniture consignment store in burlingame, california. it was from an elderly woman's estate, and we were told it probably was manufactured sometime in the thirties.....it is an art deco"ish" set with a dresser, highboy and two nightstands with polished brass hardware on the drawers. excellent joinery, solid wood construction. clearly quality furniture. would love any info too on the history, value, etc.

I have a 1930's waterfall bedroom set in mint condition. I recently had it appraised at 1,200.00 dollars. It contains 2 night stands headboard, a high boy, vanity with mirror and chair, also a dresser with a mirror it is also has beautiful inlay down on the sides of each piece. I found this thread via Google. The last response was dated 9/03. I was wondering whether anyone has discovered any other information about the Albert Furniture Company. I recently was given a 4-drawer chest (marked #830); according to a label on the back of the chest, it was shipped to Alfred Furniture in Long Beach, CA. The style of the chest looks somewhat like Danish Modern. It doesn't have any metal hardware -- the drawer pulls are covered in leather or leather- ette material. Any information on Albert Furniture would be very much appreciated!

I just had a 1930's waterfall dining room set appraised here in the EastCoast and the appraiser can be reached at andrewsandandrews.com and he knew exactly what it was, who made it, the value, etc., here on the east coast he said it has practically no value but in California it's highly collectible. So hope this helps. I also have a bed and dressers if anyone is interested.

I also have a china hutch that has the old beviled glass and i was told it was watterfall glass and it hasent been made since the 30's it has real gold melted through the side pices of glass as well i can not find any info it has the name Albert furniture co. burned on the bottom of the hutch so i know it belongs to the same group you all alre looking for as well please if any one knowes anything i need to know...this was my great great grandmothers

I will see what I can dig up. I live in Shelbyville. My grandfather worked at Albert as a foreman for several years. I have a bedroom suite that was originally blonde. It was very sturdy furniture. I believe the factory burned sometime in the fifties. There were a number of different furniture manufacturers in the city. A handful still survive.

I also am looking for information on the bedroom set I recently bought at a thrift store. An antique dealer told me she thought it was waterfall. Its mahogany and has bakalite and brass handles I've seen no markings.Does this sound like Albert Furniture Co.?

All the Albert furniture I have and have seen is brass-plated hardware of varying types. That is not to say it isn't Albert though. I am no expert though. You may look on the bottom of anydrawers of the back of the piece for a large 'Albert' stamp.
