Sorry, I couldn't get back to some of you as I was away on business. I came back to find I had a lot of responses regarding a Canadian version. One person posted (and rightfully so) that it may almost be cost prohibitive. Massive crew and massive budget. This show is in its infancy and thanks to us, the viewers, I'm sure it will continue to have great success. We now have weekly junkahiloics meetings during show time and our favorite pass time seems to want to verbally tear the show appart. I say that in good tone. Most of us are of technical background and we bring our expertise to the couch on Wednesday(now Monday) nights.

Reading alot of posts here and seeing MANY different ideas I can't help but think that 99 percent of us want projects that are engine oriented. BTW a big engine is a bigger V8, not a V6 as depicted in the UK.

Although the Arttatacks did not win I feel they had the most fun and we all had a great laugh. I attribute the success of the show to the hosts and producers, however, hats off to the edit boys. I agree with most of you about some of the edit. We do tend to lose some pieces here and there because of edit. In the grandscheme of things.....this show brings technical wisdom, improvising skills, leadership abilities ( if you put yourself in a show..what could YOU do?), and most importantly it brings some humour.

When they were building the scooba pumps the scene where one guy was testing his pump and the other one suggested "keep that up and you'll go blind".

This show is at the stage where everything is based on balance. The technical, the humor & fun and everything wrapped up into one hour.

If the show didnot have that we would not be here writing our thoughts or critique.

My idea, how about an offroad vehicle four wheel drive and independant drive axles using 4 separate engines (Briggs and Stratton Engines-the same size).

The ultimate idea.....How about two guest team leaders. ready for this? . . . Tim Allen, Red Green and/or Jay Leno. Or a known guest from speedvision (network conflict?) Then how about know race car or drag racers. John Force? (you pick the name(s). That alone would put JYW on the topten. Costly? possibly. Let's see what happens.

John - great idea, just to throw in a cavaet to that...

Being on a show can be very time intensive. One episode takes basically a week to film. So, consider that if you win the championships, you have used 3 weeks of vacation time (for those of us who still work)...at most companies, that pretty much all of it. Asking someone to come back and spend another 2-4 days (travel) may be a bit more than they can do.

Hmmmm. You are giving me ideas. If I were ever to compete, I'd just have to see if I could get my Boss to sign a course request -- free to the company -- for a week long course in "Practical Field Engineering"!
