Just wanted to say how much we appreciate this site. Our "Maine-iac" found us, so to speak, and we didn't know much about the breed. Gabby (he's a talker)was found by our daughter, in Maine, in 09/00. He was a very malnourished stray - 4lbs, flea-ridden, missing fur, you hated to pick him up as he was all bones. Gabby received lots of TLC from our daughter, but she was unable to keep him for more than a month. The vet estimated Gabby to be 3 yrs. old and aside from malnutrition, should make a good comeback. We now have Gabby in Illinois - and he's a bouncing 15 pounder! We often wonder when he'll stop growing. This site has helped us in identifying Maine Coon behavior and also given us good information re. feeding, sizes, temperment, etc. Gabby's a clown, sweetheart, terror - and we love him a lot. We've had other cats...but the Maine Coon is definately a breed all it's own!
