Wow! We are sure getting hammered this time! Nearly 13 inches of snow on the ground in 8 hrs here in Westchester Cty., NY. Heavy, too. Just told honey to move his work truck before the tree behind it collapses. Trying to keep busy, don't want to succumb to 'cabin fever'! Cleaned and Cooked up a storm, sorted thru some old clothes that will never fit again (have another homemade brownie, Kathy)Organized the pantry. Is this what you do during a blizzard? Some of my friends go to the local bar,(adults, average age 45)would join them if I wasn't so far away. Bored to tears now, might just set up the sewing machine.

We didn't get an awful lot of snow--about 7" or so. We're supposed to get another inch overnight, and up to an inch tomorrow afternoon. Hubby will get out the John Deere tomorrow and blow out the driveways.I did get a lot of paperwork done today so I feel I accomplished something. Now I have to start working on the income taxes, I'd much rather work outside in the barn than do all this cussed paperwork.

18 INCHES! 18!! Northwest New Jersey I was going to get hay today. Guess that's out for a while. We only dug out half our driveway and the plow hasn't come through yet. I watched Dinosaur. I guess I was being lazy.

Hi Cara, Wet snow in NJ, probably won't last, but it was fun to see a little more white. Gigi was going to Florida last week, but they chickened out. Kids and I are snuggling by the fire and watching the lone ranger, waiting for Pioneer Patti to come home. Stay warm in Maine. Brrr...

I had to learn how to combat cabin fever. I have lived in Wisconsin almost all my life, except for a little time in Minnesota. Winter's are long and snow storms can be often. We have been very lucky the past few years. I read, write letters, plan my garden, sew, try new recipes, make crafts for birthdays, weddings and baby shower's. I try to learn something new every Winter. This year i am making scrapbooks for the kids and i am doing our family history. It is actually a nice time for hot cocoa and family card or board games. Making snow men, baking(keeps the kitchen toasty, and curling up with a good book. When the power is out we use candles and lamps. The power doesn't go out like it did when we were younger. My niece was staying with me one time and we got quite a little snow. She was so upset because we couldn't take the planned trip to Grandma's, so i decided to cheer her up. First we bundled up and grabbed extra scarves, mittens and hats and made snow men with carrot noses. We eventually gave the carrot's to the bunnies, out of guilt. then we scooped up fresh snow and made snow cones with unset jello as the flavoring. We didn't have a plastic sled and our metal runner one wouldn't go in this heavy snow. So i grabbed a plastic garbage can lid and we went slidding down the river bank. We had the best time! My niece still say's, "when are we getting another snow storm Auntie Shau". Stay safe, before you know it all will be as it was.

Pretty much a standard Nor'easter here in Maine, friends. Cara knows this, but she has not been here long enough to remember '80, (or was it '81? or '79?). Anyway, bummer of a year, not so much from the snow, but from the ice. Not anything like the ice storm of Feb '98, when we went off the grid for over 2 weeks, but nonetheless, annoying! I am really, really ready for planting season, and am so much of an anxious kid that I have virtually all my seeds at the ready! (a political aside: revel in the being of a moral commander-in- chief who will support both the Constitution and those in the military who have been "loathed" by Clintongore, and who are the reason you are able to speak!) Sorry! I am completely neutral, but my dog Smokey, who has intelligence and morals, insisted I include those words. Smokey is (besides Maggie) my best friend. He is also much more intelligent than liberals from Palm Beach! GL to all!
