AB - new stuff on annachao.com yet?

When do we want to register SPC? Where do we want to host it?

Can I make this whole entry full of questions?

T - do you ever check the Spain thread, woman?

Hello? .... lo? ...lo? ...o?

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

I'm here. I was up from three to six with an awful headache. But I'm here now. I think I'll make some oatmeal.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Do y'all ever read Leigha's journal?

"The company was equally as pleasing. We went out with Ed and Jenn, and had a great time. Lots of laughing and talking, and no one got drunk. It occurred to me that this is what adults do; they sit around and chat and have a great time over a glass of wine. They don't down shot after shot, or try to pick up the hot guy at the club. It's great knowing that my tastes are changing for the better. After we left Malaga's at 1 am, we headed off to IHOP."

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

...we headed off to IHOP. Right after she says her tastes are changing.

Please. And her boyfriend JUST turned 22. Sheesh.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Morning, MATH!

Um, what happened to enjoying a night of drinkin'/carousing? Do you grow out of that?

Fleeah so sirry.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

The IHOP part killed me. Honey, it takes more than a trip to a wine bar to make you either high-class or a grown-up. The best aprt is that in an earlier paragraph, she talked about how there is some high- class dining at the Spaghetti Warehouse. You can eat in a streetcar!

Herro?

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

I read about Jerri hatred on MBTV. Joanna's recap is excellent. She rove Lodger too!

The confirmed my order! hannahbeth.com all mine!

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

We're all slow today.

Any of y'all ever been to Charleston?

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

I was in Charleston once, on a family vacation. But that was about 15 years ago. Very nice city, though.

Hannah, I'm still not set up with your-site, and it's starting to annoy me.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Mike - they didn't contact you? They're in the process of setting me up. My order's just been confirmed.

Yeah, we are slow! Slow talkey! No emails either.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Did they contact you by e-mail or by phone?

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Yay, hannahbeth.com! I can't wait to see!

We are soooo slow today. Hannah, when you want to use the battery on the iBook, do you just unplug the power cord with it on or what? I haven't tried it yet.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

We are slow. Allison must be the glue that binds us together, for sure.

We have some big meeting from 2-6. Probably more whining from the top. They need to suck it up and admit that they made some crap-ass decisions. Then they need to work on rectifying their decisions.

But the old firm would gladly have me back, or so I'm told, to that's a good thing. Good to have open options and all.

We're thinking of going to Charleston next weekend for C's birthday. He really doesn't want to do anything with a large group - he hates being singled out and all. Plus he has birthday issues.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

"Did they contact you by e-mail or by phone? "

By email. This a.m. Just said they're setting it up now, and they'll send me the info I need as soon as they do.

Okay. I can get dreamweaver for my work iBook, but I don't think I want to use this for my personal site.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

I just wrote them an e-mail to check on it. We'll see what happens.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

"But the old firm would gladly have me back,"

you mean Duffey?

Ab- yup. I just unplug it and it runs on battery.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Yup. Lee told me when I left that there would always be a place for me, and last week I learned that Eric is leaving (probably for a spot in the Bush administration as he pretty much won Georgia for the guy) and that Lee wants to revamp the public affairs department (that I was originally hired into, but in the hubub of the election, it sort of petered out and I did more and more consumer-oriented stuff). I've been talking to my friend Megan about it - she works closley with Lee - and a few other people. Things have definitely changed (for the better) over there.

I've accumulated a pretty big body of knowledge on privacy, internet taxation, and energy issues that would be worth something to a lot of companies. So we'll see. I definitely want out of here, though.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Damn. I think the Magic 8-Ball said I'll be going insane when I try to build my new site. Oh, well. At least I didn't have far to go.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Joh - my, how the rodeo has changed. I thought I could take Chris to see Willie, but alas. No Willie. Lyle Lovett and Robert Earle Keen would be sweet, though. But that's on a Monday.

But y'all. 98 Degrees? Def Leppard? Destiny's Child? Those don't belong at the rodeo, mayn.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Well that's good.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Y'all, I seriously have nothing to write about.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

"That's good" is in re: to Duffey.

Destiny's Child just bc they're from Houston. But 98 degrees? No no no.

Mmm, the rodeo. Mmmm, cowboys.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Even the forum is slow today. Where's AB?

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

AB here! I'm feeling dull today.

Have y'all looked at the diarist award finalists for site design? They're beautiful.

I think that's why I'm dull. I'm overwhelmed. I want to just be whelmed, mayn!

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

I did, yes. Yes, they are beautiful, but they're also artists and shit. Focus on writing. Most important!

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Although for the Diarist Awards, it's "Be friends with the right people. Most important!"

You know I'll change my tune very quickly if I'm ever nominated.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

I know writing most important (!), but see, I have all these paintings hanging out in my house, taunting me. "You no artist! You no paint good--can't even design website! Nyah!"

It's frustrating to know what you want to do, and then not be able to produce it. Damn!

And Mike, you know I'd be all, "Ooh, I loooove Diarist Awards!" if I got nominated, too.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

y'all did go vote for Allison, right?

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Jeez, I like Dana's journal as much as anyone else, but could she be nominated for anything else in the individual entry categories?

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

We're too quiet! I hate it!

Mike - did you hear from them yet?

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

I got confirmation that they received my e-mail asking what the deal was, but that's it. Maybe it didn't go through, but I don't want to get double-billed for it either so I'm reluctant to run it through again.

Also, I'm going over the Diarist nominations (since my column is still making that giant sucking sound so far), and can I say how absurd it is that there's a Legacy Award for a medium that's been around for, what, five or six years?

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

The "Give Me a Ring" entry from Footnotes (nominated for Best Romantic Entry) just about made me cry.

All right, back to college basketball...

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

From your-ste...

Hi,

We have recived your order, and will be setting it up either today, or first thing tomorrow. I hope this helps. Thanks!

Woo-hoo!

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

And I can't believe Dana was nominated for her "yo" entry. Sheesh.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

And, you know, I love Book of Rob. Really, I do. I think he's great. It was one of the first notify lists I signed up for.

But his guest entry that was nominated is, IMO, not very good, and if he wins it over Allison it will be solely because of who he is and not about what he wrote. And that would annoy me a little bit.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Where are you clazy people?

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

First of all, the fuzzies are talking about their front-page quotes.

This column clearly isn't happening right now (well, it's happening, but it's awful), so I'm going to go work out, go home, watch Maryland lose to Georgia Tech and them come back tonight and polish up.

I work a swing shift tomorrow for football signing day (and I could not be less happy about that, but whatever), but I'll be in before three for my chat (http://cgi1.usatoday.com/mchat/20010207001/tscript.htm). If y'all want questions answered, you can ask them now and they'll be at the front of the queue. That doesn't mean I'll actually get them (since they're fed to me by a moderator), but there you go.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Oh, and Hannah, have fun at Vertical Horizon. Let me know how they are in concert.

I got the album about a year ago when a dating experience was going sour, and then for whatever reason (like the fact that my life is really a TV show or something) "Everything She Wants" was on the radio, like, every ten seconds. I thought I was on Ally McBeal for awhile.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

The jags in the take-his-name thread are killing me. I thought I already graduated from Agnes Scott.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

I'm back - is everyone gone?

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

I keep wanting to post there, and then I keep thinking better of it. Maybe tonight, if Maryland loses and I'm in a cranky mood. But the whole "Well, wife-beating was an accepted practice once too" school of argument (from the first page) is a pet peeve -- like that has anything to do with taking your husband's last name.

Not that it makes a whole lot of difference to me either way...

All right, I'm really leaving now. Y'all have a good one.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

I'm here.

I"ve been in such a bad mood lately. Everyone is pissing me off.

And now I don't even want to go to this concert.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Baby, why they pissing you off? Talk to T.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

What's up, H?

I hate everyone, too. But not MATH. I love MATH.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Okay. I asked Melissa about TWO weeks ago if she wanted to go to this concert.

Today around noon I get this email like, I dont' know if I want to go, I'm really tired etc. I told her she'd still have to pay for the ticket as she'd be totally shafting our friend Dennis.

She just calls and says no, she's definitely not going.

It's 5:30. I am so livid right now.

This means I have to go by myself and meet a bunch of people there I just work with. I'm not really friends with any of them. Either that or eat my $25 ticket as well.

She's too tired to go, but she can stay out all night last Wed. What the fuck ever.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Oh - I was wearing my I Love MATH shirt last night and we ran into a guy that Chris works with. He says, "You love math?" and I said, loud and proud, "Why yes, yes I do love MATH."

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

It must be the alignment of the planets, y'all, because we all hate everyone. Except MATH, of course.

I'm still reading these entries. One of them, I took one look and just closed the window. How can someone who writes a journal in all lowercase even be considered?

Hate. Hate in my heart.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Does she flake often? Is she throwing up? If someone else bought her ticket, she should definitely pay them. And if she's left with a $25 night at home, well, that's her problem.

I think that you should go and have a good time. She can't rain on your parade. And if you don't like the people you're with, just go hang by yourself. IT will probbaly be too noisy to talk to them, anyway.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

She's a big giant flake. No, she's just tired.

I do want to go. It's just a big pain in my fat ass.

I've been so mad at her lately, and it's mostly me. Well, because I can't tolerate flakiness.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Oh, LORD. Now she's going. Jimminey Cricket.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

I've read a few of the entries. I'm definitely voting for Al, hands down. However, I still feel that the lack of our JOAG collaborative is sinful.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Oh lodr, I'm dying. Go here, Iron CHEF! fans.

white plates in a row filled with salmon brains and roe no one will eat it

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

That last part is haiku. Silly Greenspun.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

T. I love it so much.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Hell, y'all. I know you're probably leaving, too, and I have to go. I am 100 shades of hateful craziness right now, because tonight is my friend Sonya's (who I used to live with) birthday. She's turning 40 and...I just haven't had time to care about it. Somehow, I feel like she and everyone else expected me to plan a party and I'm like, "People. I have moved ON." I know I'm her best friend in town - or I once was, and she wanted to have some grand soiree. I feel like I've let her down. So, I'm getting her something from Tiffany's. Earrings or whatever. Maybe.

So, I'm irritated with that mess and I miss the MOC and, you know, any day without MATH is a day spent in abject sorrow, so even though my Quarterly Ordeal of a meeting went smoothly this morning and I'm happy about that, I'm all fussy because I've been so busy and Mother has been here, not even enjoying herself because I've had to work so much. And I just don't want to go to this birthday dinner. I'm ordering a margarita as soon as I hit the do'.

'Night, my pretties. Tomorrow, we'll all be here and all will be good. Things to discuss:

1) T wants a new job.

2) Hannah and Mike are getting new domains.

3) SPC portal. I talked to Sonya and we can host it with her gratis if we buy the domain.

4) AB is figuring out her iBook.

5) Al is crazy.

Love y'all.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Before y'all go (if you're still here), please go read Meg's post in the "take his name" thread. I cannot control my disdain for much longer.

Have good nights, sweet things.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Oh, I saw that. What, you get together with him and say, "You know, let's forget this Lippincott/Anulewicz business. Let's choose something that has nothing to do with either of us!"

Like what, if you both like The Hobbit you become Meg and Artie Baggins? What gives?

Oh yes, so many things to discuss tomorrow.

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Y'all, can I say this. It was an awful, awful day. The worst. The stars are unaligned or something, because from the time I woke up to right now, as I try to finish this crap-ass column, it has been an unmitigated disaster.

And yet, it was finally salvaged, because I will be cracking up for the rest of the night thinking of "Meg and Artie Baggins". Hah!

-- Anonymous, February 06, 2001

Although my chat is getting a little promo in the paper tomorrow, which is a first. So my name will be there under the TV listings in the sports section.
