I have been looking for info about a fogotten San Francisco carousel.

Back in the mid 1960s, there was a place called the Childrens Hair Fair. It was located in back of Alioto's, on Fisherman's Wharf. It was a 2-story building...On the ground floor was a women's clothing store, and the 2nd floor had the hair salon. My brother and I used to get our haircuts there. The owner had this 2 row merry-go-round, on the back balcony of the salon. Sometimes she'd take us for a spin--a real treat! For any carousel enthusiasts reading this, I recall the horses being Leavenworth-style, carved by C.W. Parker. I believe this carousel was all-wood.

One day, I was very saddened to see the little merry-go-round was torn down! The fanciful horses were now scattered among the clothing store, used as mere props. Some horses were decorating the salon. At least one was used as a barber chair. It wasn't nearly as fun to sit on the stilled horse and get my hair cut, after all those rides on it.

Does anyone know whatever happened to the Hair Fair, and the carousel horses? I've asked several carousel and amusement park organizations. No one seems to know (but they're all very curious). Please email me or post if you have any memories or info. Photos would be especially appreciated. Thanks.
