Why not have one team in a competition put in by a major Trade Union: members would have to work to Union rules?

Teams can only be three persons, so this precludes having a "Union" team. One would have to be the job steward, one operating engineer, and one grunt, (who would be the only one doing anything.) Plus, they don't pay union scale, so they would also need several lawyers for the team for contracts, feasability studys, and wage litigation. One group of engineers, including at least one or two OSHA people and several state county and city inspectors, to make sure that everything built on the set is up to code and environmental standards and safe. At the end of the show, all the members are involved in running the machines, a violation of the operating engineers contract, so it just can't be done. Maybe the challenge could be for the teams to go on strike for ten hours, and for competetion, see who can mediate the best benefits/wage package. I'm sure that in Ca. the staff will all be union, so at least you get part of your wish. It's a good idea anyway, like the military teams against the civilian teams in the Brit shows.
