How many of y'all have seen an Angel of Almighty God and knew it? What about visions from above? The Word says we "entertain angels" at times and prophesy states that in the "latter days old men will dream dreams"---? Luke 6:31

Can't say as I "seen" one but have more than one occasion, felt their presence. Once was 6 yrs. ago when I found out the child I was carrying was no longer alive. When I got home, I went into our bedroom, shut the door and cried my eyes out! I jumped when I literally felt someones' arms around me - in fact, I turned around to see who snuck in the room without my knowledge of it. When I realized what was going on, I knew I wasn't alone. The most recent time was in July of '98 when I found my husband dead in the woods from a "widow maker". My brother sent me back out of the woods to call for help and the whole time I'm driving out to the farm across the road, I had a sense of peace about it. Some would call it being in shock but I knew where Tom was and is today. I still marvle at how calm I felt at the time. Don't get me wrong - I was definately devastated but not in a panic. Always wondered why I never "felt" His arms around me at that time. This post will be interesting to watch. Thanks hoot !!

Hoot, I had a very strange experience with what I believe was an angel. I don't talk about it much because I really don't think people would believe me.

Many, many, times even ones from the "other side, of faith in God" I came to know Jesus over 16 years ago, after 20 years of life in darkness, the realy bad suff,I've been blessed with miracles in many forms and healings. I often 'see' things that will happen, mostly in a symbolic way, prophetic imagery, is what it is called. It is really cool when I don't understand what I 'see' but some one else is blessed by my description of the 'picture', these are most of the time in color and and almost never have sound.
I often feel compelled to write down what I see, and I take it very seriously and always sign my name and date to it to show that I know my accountablity to God, because it is not a parlor game for intertainment but an important step of faith, to help others grow in their faith.
A lot of people think they would like to 'see the future' but I will tell you the truth about it, it is not an easy thing to live with. The emotional and phyical strain is unpleasant at best and at the strongest, life threatening, [check out Daniel 8:27] but God is good and always faithful, every thing I have gone through in life has been balanced and worth while, I trust Him{God} completely.
Some times there is a question or two. He is very patient and helps me understand "the why?" for things that trouble me and other times all I get is 1st Corinthians 1:27 .
I have felt correction, {it's kinda scary} I have felt His pleasure with me and I have ALWAYS felt His love. Looking back over my life there were days I didn't know it at the time, but I can see it now, and I am grateful beyond the power of words, that He accepted me.
Hebrews 10:22-25.............I pray His blessing find you always.

Three years ago, my oldest son was a homeless heroin addict in a large city. He called me to say "Good-bye" because he was sick of being sick and causing so much pain and he was going to kill himself. After he hung up, I prayed that God would send REAL ANGELS, not the cute ones, but the HUGE guys with flaming swords. I prayed that He would send them to surround my son in his misery and to protect him from the evil forces which had taken over his soul. There are many parts to this wonderful story, but my son later told me that soon after I spoke with him, 3000 miles away, he was filled with a feeling of hope and he had no clue why. That "feeling" stuck with him, and caused him to make a bunch of choices, one miracle after another, until....for the last two years he has been drug-free, a Christian man who writes and performs Christian contemporary music, and shares ALL the details of his life before and after with other young people. Angels doing Gods' bidding??? you bet...God bless.

I recall a "man" walking into the middle of chaos after a twister hit by here many years ago. The way he brought calm and order to the situation was amazing, he worked for hours, then no one could find him. Folks discussed weather he was just modest or "an angel amongst us". I like to think the later as I've lived here many years and never saw him before or since.

I had a dream that came true. Several years ago, I was very concerned about my father's health. He'd had bypass surgery and now suffered from parkinson's. I dreamed I was sleeping at the home in which I had growen up. I awoke in late morning & went in search of everyone else. I found Daddy rocking on the front porch as was his habit. I sat down in the rocker next to him. Just then a cow came wandering around from the side of the house. A neighbor's cow had broken out of the nearby pasture. Daddy got up (at age 78) to chase the cow back into the pasture. I was screaming for him to stop - that it would kill him, his heart couln't take it - the cow wasn't worth dying over. He would'nt listen and all I could do was watch in horror as he stumbled to a stop, grabbing his chest! I woke up screaming. My husband held me and I was convinced it was only a dream caused by my concern for him. A FEW WEEKS LATER...we drive to Daddy's for a visit, arriving late in the wee hours and slip off to bed. I awaken late the next morning and go in search of everyone. I find Daddy rocking on the front porch. I sit down and A COW comes around the house. I know what has happened and I tell him, I will run her back into the pasture, to sit still. Being my stubborn father he says no he will. We argue. He doesn't know about my dream, and I can't convince him to sit still. He gets up to run her back through the hole in the fence and I begin screaming. My nightmare is unfolding before my very eyes and I am helpless to stop it. Unlike my dream Daddy becomes alarmed at my freaking out ( and I freaked!!!) and comes to me to calm me. My husband runs the cow back. Things calm down and I share my dream with my father. He understands and our visit continues normally. At the visits end we hug, say our I love yous and 2 weeks later he dies from massive heart failure. Did the dream prepare me for his passing? No, nothing could do that. But it did give me a forewarning. I have only told a few people of this

Yes. As a child, I saw one outside my window who came in and stood by my bed, looking down at me. Stunning. All gold light and safety. There were also other incidents my mother has told me about which I don't remember. They involved "the lady that comes and sits on my bed."

Hoot, you're brave, asking such a controversial question in this day of "angels". Most people aren't aware of what angels really are, they seem to think they're part of the warm and fuzzy life. But to answer your question, yes, but like Linda above, people have a hard time believing my experiences.
-- Cindy (SE In) (atilrthehony_1@yahoo.com), February 26, 2001.
A great question and one that I think about often. I admit I have seen images, not sure if they were angels although they were kind and pleasant images hovering over my bed or standing alongside my bed. I was awake when I saw them, even reached out to touch them. I almost felt a different kind of consciousness, not fully awake but definitely not asleep. It was a peaceful feeling. I'm not convinced they were dreams, though. This happened a lot during one particular period of my life, when there was a great deal of change occuring in my life. BTW, I'm not Christian (am Jewish)--not sure if it matters much when it comes to angels!
-- amy (acook@in4web.com), February 26, 2001.
Amy: Amgels are not Christian specific. Judaism has a whole heirarchy of them and the "Christian" angels have been "borrowed" from Judaism. And, yup Hoot. Even heathens like me have had experience with Angels.
-- john leake (natlivent@pcpros.net), February 26, 2001.
I being a non Christian refer to angels as guides, and believe in them 100% . I know my uncle whom I absolutely loved is mine, and comes to me often. He helps put meaning into my life and "shows"me things that let me know its him. He died by a gun shot wound defending his farm and when I am outside alone working with the animals I know he is with me.Smiling

The Lord said, "You fed me when I was hungry, you clothed me when I was naked, you comforted me when I was in prison." His people asked, "When did we do those things?" The Lord answered, "When you do this for the least of your brothers, you do this for me, also." (paraphrased from memory)When we are filled with the Spirit, walk in the Spirit, we see the world through spiritual eyes. Remember, the book of John instructs us to test the spirits. Not all spirits are from God, no matter what they look like. The god of this world will appear as an angel of light, and God's warrior angels are not exactly "pretty."
Hoot, it has taken me years to be comfortable enough to say I am a dreamer of dreams and a seer of the unseen. God is a gentleman. He does not tell me things that I really shouldn't know.
During one of the worse times of my life, my home was filled with angels of the Lord. They ministered to us, layed hands upon us, healed us and even celebrated the Lord with us. My daughter and I watched angels dancing to the music of Beethoven, before we knew what the music was, we saw exactly how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. We woke up to angels every morning for almost a year.
The Lord says, "Abide in me and obey my commands and I will give you the desires of your heart." The narrow high road is not easy nor free of thorns and rocks, but God does keep his promises. Jesus is Lord.

Oh yes, I know angels aren't specific to Christianity. I only mentioned I was Jewish because the thread title mentions "Christian Material." I guess I was trying to put forth the idea that other religions recognize angels.

Hi, what a wonderful topic! No, I have never seen an angel; but here are some true stories I know about. We lived in SW Colorado and a couple was lost on snowmobiles. A number of friends of mine were on search and rescue. The couple was not in the area everyone thought they would be and it was getting dusk, nearly time to call off the search for the day. All of a sudden, a man with blue, blue eyes insisted to my friend Carol that they should look in a particular area - it was an area that had not even been discussed. She turned to tell the others and then turned back to the man and he was gone - nowhere in sight. They went to the area and found the couple - they were already in bad shape hypothermia-wise - I think one lost a couple of toes. The doctors were emphatic that they wouldn't have lasted more than an hour or two more. Several years ago, my sister and brother-in-law were in a bad situation as home missionaries in S. Florida. They were getting death threats on their phone due to their work. They didn't discuss it with their 3 young children; but the youngest(about 4 at the time) still came to my sister one day and told her not to worry. She handed her a picture of their family; but there were 10 figures in the picture instead of five. When questioned about it, she said well, she had also drawn everyone's angels. She told that Dad's was really big and always wore silver, etc. It was so cool! The same couple had what we are sure was an angel help them when Dad had a bad epileptic seizure. They went into a restaurant that was just opening (no customers yet) when he felt it coming on. My sister really got scared and the man physically helped and reassured them. He left a hand towel behind and when my sister returned it to the kitchen, they told her it was not one of their towels and that no man like that worked there. Also no one else had seen him. And last, there used to be (I don't know if there still is) one of the most beautiful stories about angels on the Kathryn Kuhlman Christian website. It is about a little boy whose chest is crushed by an automatic garage door opener. He dies and is resusitated (has No permanent problems though). During the time when he was dead to this world, he later told his parents unbidden about the birdies coming and taking him away when it started to hurt too bad and how they all flew thru space to a bright light and someone in the light told him that he loved him so much; but that he needed to go back and play baseball and tell others about the birdies and the Light. It is so cool, if you do a search on Salvation.com Prayer request Board, I am sure you can ask about it. May Christ open all our eyes to more and more of His power and glory! Cynthia

Hoot; I knew a pastor that was always having this one fellow tell him....about his dreams....he asked Mike (the pastor friend) what he thought, once, and Mike said, "Well, I think....you're getting old!" (In reference to the old men dreaming dreams). Ah, mike wasn't being a booger of a pastor, he just didn't feel qualified to interpret this man's every dream. But staying on subject...i have never seen the appearance of an angel, but I have undoubtedly felt their presence as I can be kind of clumsy at times...times where only an angel could've kept me from sure physical peril. I have seen the appearances of dark entity spirits before. they appeared as columns of dark, smoky shadows, if this makes sense.
