Cloth Diapers or training type pull ups

I have a 21 month old, she must be about 19 or 20 lbs. I am looking to switch her from disposables to cloth diapers. I would like the kind with gathered legs and maybe velcro closures. Any ideas on where I might be able to get some, or of a pattern to make some?

When I had my daughter, found out she was allergic to the disposables and the new chemicals they are made with (FYI - if the people making these things have to wear heavy duty rubber gloves during the entire process.....what are they doing on baby's bottoms??)

Anyway, I got mine from Wal-mart, K-mart, and was even able to purchase some new (not used - still in the package) from a diaper service. It might not be a bad idea to try one - just for a month - and find out what you are in for.....

Your little girl should be ready for training now. My .02 cents worth is this. Get her the training pants, the cloth panties that are extra thick. With my son it was easy to associate peeing with going potty, he would always pee when I put him in the bath, so I would say pee pee, to try and match the word with the function. With girls it might be harder. I see this could go long, so if you want further advice on potty training email me. I think the cloth pants are the best, they breathe better than any plastic. Good luck, and happy parenting!

I was wondering if you thought of trying to potty train your little girl. The age is about right, but if you still are looking for cloth diaper cover-ups, walmart, K-mart, and Toys-R-Us carries them. They also carry cloth training pants which I used on my son. They are much better on a baby's bottom than the plastic kind and very easy to use. If you have any other questions, or need more info, please e-mail me.
