Russell, congratulations on your Saanen kids! My Saanen is due in late April and I can't wait...I believe the rule with cart wethers is that they can pull up to double their weight...if in doubt I would use two. Hope this helps, enjoy.

I just started milking yesterday. My second doe, Saanen, had a mummy baby and so delivered a month early. Sad, the little one lost was a doe. But Holly is OK, had the vet out yesterday afternoon because she is still huge looking. Vet said no babies in there, I can't believe she was so huge and only 2 tiny babies. Poor Holly is crying looking for her babies. She is a doll, a wonderful milker. I'm thinking of calling my friend who has some registered Alpine does for me and see if one is old enough yet, maybe Holly will take to it.

I also started milking my first freshner Alpine doe and she has a wonderful big bag. She did great for her first time. I put her little girl up on the milk stand, and Violet settled right down.

There's a great site for Harness Goats. I'll post it here today. Have fun milking, I love goats milk and milking.
