milking buckets on eBay? (dairy goats)greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
I was looking for stainless pots and buckets on eBay, and found these 15 liter, 11" high, 12" diameter buckets with lids. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1223731505 It's a dutch auction; the guy is selling 5 sets of 2 buckets. It ends in 5 hours. Would these be good for milking? I'd like one of these; if anyone wants one too, I'll bid and then we'll get one each. The going price is $29.95 for the 2 buckets, plus $7.50 shipping. email me within the next few hours. I may bid anyway, but for about the same price ($40.00 total) I could buy a pail with half-moon cover. Thanks

Elizabeth, this would certainly be fine as long as it was seamless. But for just a little more money, you could get a stainless steel goat milking pail with half moon lid for $48.90 from Hoegger. It will literally last a lifetime. I have had mine for at least 12 years, and it is as good as new. No dings and not even a scratch with very heavy use. This is a real quality item. There are just some things you shouldn't scrimp on unless you really have to. Another one is the shear majic hoof trimmers. If you ever buy a pair and use them you will snicker at yourself for using plains, knifes and hoof rot shears. I do get milk buckets in every once in awhile when someone sells out, Greg on this forum, snapped up the last one in a day. They never last long... Vicki
