alternative/sustainable - architecture,agriculture & energy production

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

My wife and I are travelling from Florida to California in an effort to research various alternatives to contemporary housing, agriculture and energy production. We hope to experience everything from geodesic domes to underground houses. Can anyone let us know what resources are available as far as individuals or communities willing to share their experiences and "know-how" with us? Thank you, Countryside, keep up the good work.

Try these sites. They offer an eathship B&B, spend the night in an earthship, etc. The last one is a resourse site for schools teaching alt building, might be something you could visit as well.

Were you given a grant from the state extension office for the research? You might try The Farm in somerville ,Tn.It was started by Steve Gaskin, they were into raising soy beans and made soy products,I think they're the largest soy product distributors in the U.S.I think they'd be into alternitive energy, but I'm not sure.
