Morning my jags. I hate it when I find typos in my entry and I'm at work and can't do a thing about it. D'oh!

Y'all have all read Rudergirl's diary, right. God I love it.

Dear Forum,

I thought I'd report on what Meg was up to. I caught her on Napster Friday night, and we talked a while. Turns out that she has just returned from a three-week "forced" business trip to Hawaii. Gotta love those "forced" business trips. Well, now, she's back, and she's a little busy. She misses all of us, too. I hope she'll be back soon.

Missing Meg, Drew

Bwaaahaaaa!!

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Oh, for god's sake. Hawaii, my ass. What, did she go there to scatter Sir Ratsy's ashes?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

You mean Sir Pho Phoe right, because Sir Ratsy ain't dead, fool.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Joh, you forgot the guy who takes you to Denny's for a first date and then gets miffed when they don't accept coupons.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Yeah, that's what I mean. I want to ask that little Drew how, then, did Meg have time to take down her archives.

Sims pictures today?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

I responded to the Meg thing in a way that will hopefully make the people that really matter crack up, and that nobody else will get.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Yeah, we still don't know who the new zombie is.

T - yes that's a good one. I think I've blocked that one out because I can never remember it.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Mike, that was great. I see you have a squishy fan club, by the way.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Who?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

All the folks who were missing you, babe. You're a wanted man.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Ah, that's only cricket, who must not be checking the journalling threads.

Still, always nice to be missed.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

All of MATH+1 is on my notify list. Yay!

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Who doesn't like you on the journalling threads?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Everyone likes me. I'm The Bermanator!

Someone just started a thread with "Has the rot set in?" asking if pamie had sold out, and then started another thread with the same general topic that I responded to. That's about the only thread I'm active in right now (and it's dying anyway).

Well, that and reassuring cricket that I'm alive and well.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Hey, my peaches. I've gotten two e-mails from journallers from Alabama. That's nice. One of them is my age and went to Alabama for a year (befor transferring to the cow college). She now lives in the midwest. Anyway, I haven't read their journals yet, but it was nice to hear from them.

I need to update.

Oh... I also have some drama to tell you about, and I'm going to mention it here to ensure that I do not stay in denial about it.

Jamie is really going to offer me that job with The Land of Nod. He hadn't mentioned it lately, so I thought he had decided against it. People. What do I do? It would be an awesome career opportunity, but uh... it would be a solo move.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

What kind of job? Would it be a huge pay increase? Is it something you can stay in for one to two years and then parlay into something else in a better locale?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

How can I possibly still be the L_L with news like that. People!

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

I would develop massive amounts of content for the new site they're about to roll out and write and do a lot of creative for the company.

It would rock.

I don't think it would be a HUGE pay increase, but would be enough for me to live the same lifestyle in Chicago as I do now in Dallas.

Y'all. I don't know. I guess I'll talk to him about it some more, but it freaks me out. Now that I have this to consider, I'm sure Chris will get into Emory and I'll have to decide between the two options.

However, it will not be a decision between these two men, I assure you. I might move to take a job, but I wouldn't leave the MOC for J.Co. Not now. No way.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Have you talked with the MOC?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Do you think you and the MOC would see each other signifcantly more than you do now if you moved to Atl? Would you live together? Because there are a lot of great jobs in ATL. If you think you'll see each other once a month, I say go to Chicago. That job sounds amazing. But then, what would it be like working FOR Jco?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

No... I'll bring it up when he's here this weekend and we talk about The Big Whatever (our term for the unknown move to come). We have pretty much decided that, if he does not get into Emory, we will, as the Indigo Girls said, Get out the map!

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Would he not move to Chicago if Emory turns him down?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Working for JCo would be really bizarre, but I could totally do it. He has a great mind for business and fills me with confidence every time we talk.

My favorite part about the discussions we have had about this is his disclaimer "Of course, it would mean that we could not have a relationship."

Uh... which would be like now, right? Makes me laugh. He gets so mad when I say I would be fine with that, which I don't get, because in the year and a half we've known each other, we've been on a total of three dates.

He only knows the sketchiest details of my relationship with Chris, which is the way I want it, because I don't want him to make my private life any more of his business than he already does.

This is just yet another thing on which I have to wait to make a decision.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Well, Chris might move to Chicago. If Emory turns him down and Jamie officially offers me the job, I'll mention it to him. All of that might happen within the week.

I don't know why MOC hasn't heard from Emory, and it's driving him CLAZY. At this point, he just wants to know. I wish he could call them and just ask if they've sent out notices.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Do you think you and the MOC would see each other signifcantly more than you do now if you moved to Atl? Would you live together?

Well, I should hope we would see each other a lot if we moved to the same city, yo. I mean, yeah.

I don't know, if we were to both move there, if we would live together. That's something I have to talk to him about this weekend. It would certainly be more cost-efficient, but I don't know if I'm ready to live with someone just yet.

I think he's assuming we will, but we've never even lived in the same town, so I think we should take it... not slow, exactly, but at a normal pace.

I don't want to live with him unless I know that we'll get married. And not because of the "milk for free" analogy - I don't believe in that. But because I don't want to make that level of commitment to someone I don't love enough to marry. I'm not explaining that very well, but y'all probably get it.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

No, I get it. And we're of the same mind.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Not that I don't think I could marry the MOC - just not tomorrow, is all. Knowing him, however, he will want us to live together to share expenses. The spreadsheet will demand it.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Can you really argue with a spreadsheet?

Well, I guess you can if it's for the ultimate good of your relationship. You'll just need Power Point to do it.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

I'll also need one of those calculators that have the "pi" button.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

And a pointer.

anyone update? huh huh huh? Where's the AB?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

I'm here. Allison, I definitely know what you mean about the living together thing.

I don't see why he couldn't call Emory and ask what his status is, or ask what the status is, total. What are their deadline dates?

I just got a frantic email from my mother. Father Bob, the priest who married my parents, is available on 5/25/02. We have the church, we have the priest. There's, um, no official engagement, though. So, what that means is that Chris has to get his act on, fast. Last night he was all teasy about it. We'll see. I teased him back by threatening to tell Edna, because if Edna knew, she's go buy the ring herself.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

If Edna knew you had the church and stuff? Or knew that you were living together?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Oh, if she knew we were living together, she'd bonk Chris on the head and say, "Christopher. Teri is a Nice Girl. What are you doing? She'll leave you if you don't get serious, she will." And then she'd go make him buy a ring.

I mean, it's going to happen, it's just a matter of when. Chris is really stuck on wating until we've been datey-dating for a year. And that's fine, because 5/25/2002 is still almost a year from that date. But, I have to let the church know for sure by the end of this month. And then Father Bob wants to talk to poth of us, once we're "public," as my mother calls it.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

I don't think Chris will wait until July.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Why come?

He just wants the whole thing to be a surprise, which I can understand. Of course, it sure would be a surprise if I was like, "Surprise! I booked the church! And the priest!"

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

It just seems like a long ways away, is all.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

The bad thing is that he is just so busy at work. He wants to go diamond shopping, but he doesn't have the time during the day. And I guess that if he wanted to go look bad enough, he'd make the time, but still. I know how things can be overwhelming. And then he lost some money in the stock market, so he's worried about that.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Dude, maybe he HAS gone ring shopping and he's just feeding you lines.

Did you find out about Ruder's journal thru Leigha's? I love it. Together, they sort of make up for Meg's disappearance.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

I followed Leigha's link, yes. Her last entry nearly killed me dead.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

I really don't think he's feeding me lines, though. I mean, he could be, but I doubt it.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

the one where they lost their deposit? I know. Loved it.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Oh no, no. The one before the one where they lost their deposit. The one where she critiques other people's journals.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Yeah, I thought that one was pretty funny as well.

She doesn't link to any of us, btw.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Man, I need to read Flaya - I haven't had a chance, yet.

I updated, btw, so y'all can all go read me, instead.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

I'm pretty sure that Flaya reads me, but I'd never expect a link.

Speaking of, MATH portal, anyone?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Great photo, Allison.

I think you'll make the decision that's best for you.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

You know, I bet AB is still sleeping it off after Saturday night/Sunday morning. We seriously tied one on at the Chao House. It was excellent.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Did you work on your new song?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

No. We made Vince play the first one for AB's mom, though. And then we danced. And then we told a bunch of secrets and we talked a little trash. You know, the usual.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

I know that USATODAY.com is about to go to press with the story that vodka was the beverage of choice Saturday in Dallas, but we're waiting for further comments from the party involved.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Aw Al, that makes me more jealous than a diabetic in M&M World.

Mike - do you know if there's a way to edit your uploaded entries via your-site.com or anything?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Yesterday's New York Times travel section featured Deep Ellum, by the way.

Is Mad in Shreveport for the week?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Hee. All parties have agreed to make no comment to members of the press.

I'll have to get Chris to check his issue of the Times and bring me that about Deep Ellum. I'd like to see it. Have I told y'all that he got a weekend subscription to the Times that was the joy of his life, but when he put himself on the MOC Budget, he cancelled it. Plus, he never got it on time, and it pissed him off.

Now that he's cancelled it, he gets it every weekend right on time. This, in the Meat of Cheese Universe, is the greatest thing that's ever happened.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

H- I have no idea. Typos making you angry?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

I believe you meant Monroe, or "Funroe" as AB calls it. I think Mad is skipping school this week, yeah, to hang out with her grandparents.

By the way, people, I cannot adequately explain the love I feel for AB's mother. Oh, we had the best time.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

"Hee. All parties have agreed to make no comment to members of the press"

That's where you're wrong. I have plenty of material ... it's just all off-the-record.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

I (finally) get the NYT on time every day, but they haven't billed me yet. Huh.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

That's where you're wrong. I have plenty of material ... it's just all off-the-record.

Damn. AB is like the Deep Throat of MATH!

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

H: http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2001-04-09-internettwins.htm

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Mike - yes. It's making me nuts.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

See now, I didn't say that. Maybe it's AB's mom. Or maybe I told Mad Mad I'd send her some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups if she'd take notes on y'all's activities.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Hell, if you send me Reece's peanut butter cups, I'll tell you information about anything you want.

Mike, what's your male input on getting engaged?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Well, it's certainly a topic on which I have no expertise, but I'm all for it.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

T, I think it's so exciting. I can see C's point about wanting to wait until you've officially dated a year, but he clearly wants to do it. You should send him one of those adiamondisforever.com postcards.

I love it that you've already booked the church and the priest.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Oh my god, I could never, ever send him one of those postcards. What kind of girl would do that, seriously?

I just worry that I'm going to want to kick myself in the shin for already booking the church and the priest. It's definitely something that Chris will never, ever know. It will just be convenient that they're available when we do get public.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

My peeps!

I just got back from taking Mom and Mad Mad to Dallas to go home. Woo! Now I'm going to run around naked and drink cocktails and smoke cigars.

Just kidding. I'm going to finish planting some stuff in the yard. Al, when you see the transformation, you will die.

Also, I still smell like vodka, I think. That was the funnest night ever in the history of nights.

Be back latah, babies.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Yeah, I'd definitely keep the church/priest reservations on the down- low. That might freak him out a little.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

A little? Yeah, I think so.

I guess what I need to figure out is how to broach the subject. I've told him that it would be really great to get married on May 25, 2002, and he was receptive, but that was last week.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Since when am I the L_L?

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

It happens to the best of us.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

I just nominated everyone for a diarist award of some kind. May we all win everything!

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2001

Y'all. Yahoo is effing with me! I keep getting the little notify that I have new mail, and I go, and there isn't any! Hate!
