Has everyone followed Allison's lead and done their nominating for the diarist awards?
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Um ... I haven't. But I will today.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Um, no, and unfortunately, I can't until later this afternoon. I'll be at a client's most of the morning. But I will.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
I have to update today at some point. What's the use of a notify list if there's nothing to notify about?
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
I've done my nominating. MATH is gonna be all over the place, man. We will rule the WORLD.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Like we don't already?
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Seriously, y'all. Portal, hello?
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
That sound is the echo of my tears off the walls of HOBAH.Lonely Hannah_Lee all alone in the Hall of Bitches and Hos.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Bonjour.
You know, H, about the portal, I just don't think there's a huge call for it, really. The more I think about it, the more I question the need. I also wonder if anyone would use it, and how we'd promote it to get them to use it.
Now. A magazine? Yes. That would be of value. But a portal is just a links page, really, and wouldn't have any content beyond what you'd put on your own links page.
So... I don't know. I'd be interested in hearing what y'all think about it. I'd personally rather concentrate on starting a magazine, either now or down the road, and spend our energy doing something creative.
Am I the fly in the ointment?
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Firstly, I updated. Let me know if y'all get the topica thing.Seriously, now that basketball is over, I'd be super-interested in jump-starting the magazine. I really think we would kick ass at it. We're five very creative, funny, wicked people ... how could we fail?
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Berman... I loved your entry so much... I can't even tell you. I laughed out loud not once, but twice. Excellent. I think we should ask your Grandmother to be in MATH, and I think we should popularize "It's better than being a slave in Egypt" into slang.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
I got your notify, M.Going to lunch.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
I believe I will have some popcorn for lunch. Not my first choice, but it's better than being a slave in Egypt.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Oh yes. Better than being a slave in Egypt is now in the vocab.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Nice. I'm contributing to the American lexicon.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
I'm back from Norcross. Finally.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
What's this? I mention a crappy Atlanta suburb and I become the L_L?Mike, I like your entry.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Hey, a man has to break for work sometimes. Dave Odom left Wake Forest for South Carolina. Now, why would a man do that? Columbia, S.C. is not exactly the garden spot of the Western World.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
I went to Columbia, S.C. Once.I'm not looking forward to this flight on Thursday.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Why not?
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
I don't like flying. It is not fun for me.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
It's not my favorite thing in the world, but what can you do? It beats nine hours in a car.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
I'm back. T, where you going Thurs? Did I miss that?
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Here's what I can do: I can take some of the magic nausea pills that they gave me after he surgery. Those suckers knock you out like nobody's business.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
I can't believe it's Easter already. This year has flown so far.Al - do you have any special plans with the MOC?
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Hey, Allison. We're going to DC for Easter. We'll be staying at the Casa de Edna and Eugene.Any word from Emory? What is it with those jags?
Chris keeps teasing me about when we're going to get engaged, which is leading me to the brink of obsession. Like, this morning he met with the guy who handles his investing, or whatever. Because I'm obsessed, I'm pretending that he's getting the money for the ring. Meanwhile, my mother is getting really, really into this whole potential wedding thing. Really inro it. Today she mentioned booking a carriage to take us the three blocks from the church to our house. I told her that I didn't want a carriage and she was despondent. THEN, she told me her plan to clean out the basement (which is a good one, as y'all have no idea what this basement is like. Picture 1,000 square feet of CRAP, seriously, and you'll get the idea. Like, oil-on-velvet paintings of indian chiefs) so that the caterers can set up down there since there are three big-ass sinks down there and a door for easy access to the yard, and stairs that lead to the kitchen. And THEN, she told me that she told her friend Cheryl (lord help us all) about the potential wedding.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
The thought of Miss Bonnie tackling that basement just made me laugh out loud.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Oh yeah, DC for Easter. I remember. You simply must meet up with our M, somehow.
Oh no! Cheryl will tell everybody!
No big Easter plans. I got booked for a church gig on Sunday, but I am turned it down. Not enough cash. Y'all, don't get upset, ok? I'm not a money-grubber, I just won't sing for someone I don't know if they're not paying me enough. Even a church. They wanted me to go to too many rehearsals and I've sung the Messiah 150 times, and don't think I should have to go but to one. Call me a diva, if you will.
I'll probably drag him to my church, anyway. And I may sing there, for free, if they're doing something I don't have to practice.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Y'all think I'm evil now that you know I take money from the Lord, don't you?People, I have some excellent news.
I wasn't going to go to LA, but the MOC reeeally wanted me to go, so I told him, "If I can get a ticket for less than $200, I'll do it." I NEVAH expected to get it, and prepared him for that.
However, via priceline, an always sketchy undertaking, I just bought my ticket to LA for $150.
Sometimes, you win one. City of Compton!
Don't freak out, JazzFesters (eww). I'm still considering riding with AB, if I'm still alive by the time that weekend rolls around. I just saved so much money, it's now back in the realm of possibility.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
I think it's cute how Allison insists she's only "considering" riding out with AB, since we all know we'll talk her into going eventually.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
I'm scared of priceline. You get to select your dates, tho, right?
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Why does Berman think I can't say no to him? Oh. Is it because I can't?
Ah caaaiiin't say no to anybody! (That's what all the boys say, anyway.)
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Yeah, you do get to select your dates, of course, and sometimes it works out... and sometimes it's a big disaster and you're flying into a place at 11:59 PM on Friday and out at 5 AM on Sunday with five connections and it sucks, because you can't get a refund OR make exchanges.
They can send you on some clazy routes, too. I once flew to Birmingham via Chicago. And once to St. Louis via Atlanta.
But this time, it worked out sweet as sugar. I have no connections and very decent travel times. I can't believe I got it for $150. I am actually in shock, truth be known.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Y'all will be talking me into JazzFest, too. I'll be there the weekend after, though.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
I'm sure you could say no to me, and maybe even H and T. But Anna Beth? No shot. You'll be at JazzFest like everybody else.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
That's amazing, Allison. I've never done Priceline. I guess that being in Atlanta could be an advantage, since so many flights connect through here, though.I hear that Bonnie will be a handful if Chris and I are ever "public." And let me assure y'all that Chris is having a ball, what with keeping me guessing and all.

I'm eating a snickers adn I'm liking it. I'm liking it a lot.Y'all - I LOVE spinning. It was the best class ever. I'm an addict now, I swear.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Seriously? I HATE spinning. With a passion. The standing-up part? Kills me. The part where you do the same thing for an hour? Really kills me. But, we have karaoke spinning at my gym, so I may try that.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
karaoke spinning? you realize that's my dream, right? It kicked my ass, and I loved it.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Well, at Crunch, they have karaoke spinning, for sure, with flashy lights and everything.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
All right, y'all. I'm out in a sec. It's softball night, after all.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Everybody check your e-mail. I just sent you something cool from Omar!
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
I'm out, y'all. Time for the beauty parlor.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Merr, I can't get into my email! Even just yahoo.com isn't loading.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Bastards. I hate this computer. With a passion.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Don't you be talking bad about the iBook!
Yahoo has been acting big time strange lately, anyway. Here's what Omar's e-mail said: "Sorry for the intrusion from your regularly scheduled Terribly Happy updates, but this is some short-notice news for me, too:
I'll be on Court TV today at 4 p.m. (Central time) to talk about the OKC bombing journals I wrote six years ago. The appearance will be on Catherine Crier Live. I have no idea what to expect, but I told them that I wasn't comfortable talking about the current situation in OKC (being that I don't live there anymore and I don't want to talk about my views of the death penalty on national TV while still employed at a newspaper), so hopefully my segment will just focus on the writing I did. (And I promise I'll post the bombing journals on Terribly Happy very soon since they plan to link to it from the CourtTV Web site for those of you who don't know what the Hell I'm talking about).
Don't worry if you miss it -- I'm sure I'll be writing about it for Thursday's Terribly Happy.
It should be interesting -- my uncooperative hair, lack of sleep and general lack of preparedness should make for some very dynamic TV.
omar."
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
I finally got it. And I got that from Omar too since I'm on his list.Another ABless day.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
I haven't even gotten any e-mail from AB today, so she must have been out all day, or working, or relaxin'. I hope the latter.
-- Anonymous, April 10, 2001
Okay fools, I'm out. Even though I think all y'all are
