"Lil Abner" [Offensive material---don't open if easily offended]greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
He was called "Lil Abner" by his co-workers and was always the butt of many jokes. He DID have big feet and those HUGE leather boots he wore just compounded what was already a site to behold. When people would come into the mechanic shop to get work done those big feet were the first thing mentioned to the customer, by the boss. This mechanic also had big hands to go with the big feet. They weren't laughed at as much by others and I don't know why. They were funny lookin too. Yeah, I laughed at this guy too. He didn't seem to be bothered by all that fuss'n and grinned when teased about it. Apologize? Nope, don't believe I will. Nothin to apologize for in my opinion. I think when we laugh with other people ain't no reason to defend ourselves.OH, BTW--I'm that guy with the huge feet and hands. Just call me "Lil Abner" cause it sure doesn't offend me any. I DO have big feet and hands and its a fact. I'm also old, fat and have a big ugly nose.
Time is short before Jesus Christ comes in the "Twinkling of an eye". Are you ready to meet HIm in the air? Matt.24:44

I've wore them "broghans" all my life. When someone laughed at me, I just kept in mind those shoes and braces supported my legs so I could turn and walk away if I was a mind to. Lost the braces 25 years ago, still wear the hightop broghans for comfort and support. Had gut laughs all night long when I saw "Forrest Gump" the first time and realized I had made it through all that and was happy with what I felt inside and saw starin' back at me from the mirror.

Oh Jay, I remember those braces too, but I got rid of mine over 45 years ago. The scenes in "Forrest Gump" with him struggling with the braces really brought back some memories. God forgive those cruel people! It made me strong. Now I look in the mirror and all I see if a tough ol' broad!
