I apologize if this posting is not appropriate, but all of your comments and postings that I have watched and read over the last year helped me in knowing what to purchase, as far as my new Leica kit. I am very pleased with the results of the first roll of film shot with my my M6TTL 0.58 and new 35mm Summicron, and due to my excitement at seeing some pictures quick, a roll of Kodak 200 Gold.

Geezis, Keith. Nice eye and great light. A couple of STRIKING shots (#1 & 3) and a couple that might be a smidge out of focus (#2 & 4). It takes some practice with the rangefinder to get good focus consistently, esp after relying on SLR viewing for a long time (if not autofocus!).

Remember that the viewfinder is always in focus, while your lens might not be quite there. You'll get used to it though. Keep going. I'll bet you're happy as can be with the results of such a simple tool.

Leica could sell more 35mm Asph Summicrons if they had photo number 1 in their current brochure, instead of that drab double portrait used to show the fine performance of this lens. I also liked photo number three... I'd like to rent that window for an afternoon to use with my own model.

Good first effort! Stick with this lens for awhile and really learn everything about it. One lens mastered is better than a bag of glass that you never quite get to know.

#1 and #3 are excellent. You really have a good eye for light. And of course the little guy is terrific.

How did you scan these by the way?

I like the way the shadow on the lower half of the face in #1 has plenty of detail, while the eyes are still not blown-out.

I really like your use of the 35 'cron for the portraits of your son! I've personally found the 35mm focal length challenging for my own portraiture in the past, but found your portraits with it very inspiring. You appear to be off to a great start with your new Leica M/35 'cron gear! Enjoy and many happy photos...
