Computer fault shuts down CBA phone banking

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Grassroots Information Coordination Center (GICC) : One Thread

The Commonwealth Bank says it has rectified a problem that crippled its phone-banking service for a number of hours earlier today.

A hardware fault in a mainframe computer left the bank's customers unable to check home loan and credit card balances over the phone.

The service's voice response unit was also affected.

But after a halt of more than three hours, the system is now up and running.

The Commonwealth Bank's automatic teller machines, Netbank and EFTPOS services were not affected.
