I somehow screwed this 'Example 4' up quite a bit. Perhaps you could rewrite it based on your method... which probably goes like this: Dean plays 1 hour and makes $10. Rob plays 70 hours and makes $990. Dean gets $12.04 ($5.00 from the first half and $7.04 from the second half); Rob gets $987.96 ($495 from the first half and $492.96 from the second half).

this must be the example i was thinking of when i said your examples didn't fit your proposed method.
