Simple little things. [CHRISTIAN TALK!!!]

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Mr Turtle was swiftly [?] amblin across the yard headed towards the shade from the maple trees. I set in my chair [in the shade too] and watched'm headed in my direction. A rather large Land tarpin that seemed to know exactly what he wanted and where to find it. The closer he got the more I watch'd'm. When he got with about 3 feet of my chair he stopped! Had his ole head stuck out about as far as his little scrawny neck would reach. At this point I was rather amused. He looked at me and I swear-he was grinn'n!! The old corners of his little mouth were turned up! His old eyes were water'n and glassy lookin. I was about to bust a button laugh'n at'm. For about 15 minutes this went on-neither one of us mov'n. Oh I talked to'm--ask'm what he wanted and if I could help'm find it. Why he acted like he didn't understand me! LOL. Finally I had to move as the junk man showed up to get some more junk. I let Mr Turtle sett'n in the shade of that maple tree --- still grinn'n and still glassy eyed! When the junk was loaded and that task completed I was still want'n to rest some more. Mr Turtle was gone! Rekon he'd seen all of this big ugly hillbilly that he wanted to and mosey'd on. Ain't it funny how some simple little thing like this can really make your day? I laughed about it whenever it would come to my mind. His lot in life might have been to perform this one little task---just to amuse me and make me realize that even little things can be a blessing.

A new week start'n tomorrow and within it holds anothe span of time that we can use as we wish. We can decide to use that time wisely or to just waste it. No manmade laws will be broken, as far as I know, if we decide to accomplish nothing but then again no medals for us if we decide to do something useful and helpful for others. As I've said many times I've lived the "loser" life and chose long ago to vacate it for something better. I've found that llife a long time ago and will not go back. Jesus Christ is the reason I continue on! He gave me another chance and I didn't blow it this time. How about you? He's coming back soon--are you ready to meet Him. Matt.24:44

Maybe He'll be back as a turtle this time. Maybe He's already here!

I thought only Hindu's came back as turtles?, but I'm not real up on that,I've heard many people speak of how when they try to pray they get side tracked with 'silly' unimportant things and never seam to 'get into' the prayer time, People seam to focus on how hard walking with God has to be, it stands to reason that if you set out to pray, (which means to 'talk with God' and learn to 'listen to God') Then every little or unimportant or silly thing that somes to mind is something to talk about, The word says to be child like, (while not childish) and a child talks about any thing and every thing, simple things and precious things, things that make you happy and things that make you sad. So then you can feel better because He cares enough to listen to you and He feels better because you care enough to listen to Him.

Thank you, Hoot, for continuing to post. It is a real blessing to me and others and maybe you are planting a seed in those who continue to deny the truth. God bless!

Hi Hoot! Don't the scriptures mention something about getting to know HIM through nature? That would seem to mean HE takes HIS time, like that turtle or that HE apears just when you need HIM. Always a joy to hear from you!

Hoot, my father was a religious man, but he didn't enjoy churches. Of course, he went cause he wanted to set a good example. He told me many times how he felt closest to the Lord when he was outside looking at the miracle of nature. I have to admit that while I like going to church too, I really feel close to God when I work outside in the garden. God bless!

Dear Hoot and others responding, It is true that nature shows us a evidence of God (Psalm 19:1-6). It is also true that Jesus established His church (Matthew 16:18-19) and purchased it with His blood (Acts 20:28). I do love to talk about the scriptures, but without anyone getting angry! I have spent a lifetime studying the Word of God.

Hi Hoot and everybody: Praise the Lord for little blessings like this turtle - and for opening our eyes to them. After the long winter, every mourning dove I hear, every beautiful sunny day is a real blessing too. I read a little paperback book this last week called Destination Life by George E. Vandeman. I've never read this author before. It was really interesting, anyone familiar with it? Hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day weekend with many blessings from our Lord. Cynthia
