Bad Tap Water

A scientist is warning that Health Department guidelines on tap water are not stringent enough to protect the public. Pierre Payment, a researcher with ties to the University of Quebec, says municipally treated water can still cause illnesses such as nausea and diarrhea. Often, those diseases are not traced back to the tap water that caused them. Payment suggests as much as $2 billion is lost to the economy due to workers taking a day or two off after being rendered ill by tap water.
