I'm interested in any info on Yurts. Anyone out there presently living in one, know anyone who is or has? Pros and cons? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The Yurt Foundation Wm. Coperthwaite, Director Dickinsons Reach, Bucks Harbor Machiasport, Maine 04655This organization has been very helpful with questions that I had with the livability of Yurts, history, plans, etc. Doug

Typically the yurt is very poorly insulated, and thus of questionable value for year-roung living.JOJ

I'd like to add my curious involvement to that of Jerilyn. Has anyone done measurements or testing conserning year round use of this structure? I've been considering building a yurt and living in one myself -- the cost is considerably smaller compared to other buildings of similar size.

I have a neighbor that uses one as a part-time cabin, and another neighbor that lives in one full time. I know you can not keep the mice and chipmunks out of them. For what they cost, you could put up a decent cabin the same size.
