Buildin fence for looks and livestock. [Christian Material]

For the young whippersnappers that wanna know how to build a fence but were afraid to ask! Usin the old "jobber" or the newer "twister" the holes can be dug a lot easier than usin a spade or "sharp-shooter". The motorized digger is even better. Made especially for old fat lazy men!

Set the corner posts first along with the braces. After settin the cornerpost--tamp the dirt tight with a tamp. 2X4's make a good tamp. Stretch a wire from corner post to corner post and pull it tight. Dig your postholes on the outside of that stretched markin wire makin sure it's "in line" with the wire. The fence goes on the inside so that when animals kinda "lean" into the fence the staples won't come out. If you have an exceptionally long "run" between corner posts it's also a good idea to set another large post, anchored, inline with the fence. Deadend the wires on that post--stretch and staple. When it's secured-complete the rest of that run just like the first part.

Now, if'n ya'll are wantin to fence property for good looks the fencin goes on the outside of the posts. If you're fencin to keep other livestock OUT of your property, you would use this type. Ususally this is for wood fences but is sometimes used on wire too.

The corner posts should be quite a bit bigger than the fenceline posts. With corner braces against those big corner posts the fence won't loosed up any. Braces can be smaller posts angled to the corner post or wire, tied to the tops of those corner posts. The wire can be drawn to a stake set inline and tightened by twisting the wire.

We always used hedge [osage orange] for posts. I know of some fence that was built almost a hundred years ago. The hedge posts are still good-not rotted or eat up with termites. Cedar is just as good but we had more hedge than cedar.

Christ is coming back soon. He wants everybody to know the time is a whole lot closer than most think! "Therefore be ye also ready for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh"! Matt.24:44 Are you ready?

Good info on building fence. I have been doing alot of that around here this year. Good idea about setting the corner posts first. Keeps people on the straight and narrow.

Thanks for the tip on using Osage, too... I never knew that! Those 'old-timers' really knew what they were doing!!
