I have many Agfa Scala slides I would like to print and am looking for a method to make 4x5 negs. I have heard a good way is with litho film. Any help? thanks, ron

Well Ron, I am not familiar with Scala but if you are interested in making enlarged negatives you need Kodalith Orthochromatic 4x5 sheet film. You should be able to get it from a larger camera store. It may have to be specially ordered. I got some once from the W.B Hunt Co. in amherst massachusetts and I believe Calumet might also sell it. To make the transfer you will put the kodalith in the enlarger easel and the transparency in the enlarger negative carrier. You will make a test strip just as you would for a paper. You will develop the test strip in Dektol. You may want to dilute the Dektol quite a lot like try 1:10 to start with. This will produce a continuous tone negative with normal contrast. The biggest trouble I think is determining the emulsion side of the kodalith. I've forgotten if it is the lighter or darker of the two. A simple test would tell you that. Good luck to you Ron.
