Does any one have a god method for keeping squirrels out of your garden? We have the vegetable garden beds covered with bird netting but that's not practical for the flower beds and pots. We put down red pepper flakes and that helped for about a day. Now I have put out moth balls (this kept a tomcat from using our basement windows as a bathroom). Any other ideas?

Cj, What a pain those squirels are. Shot gun works wonders and they are edible. They always eat all my plums, I was told that red pepper spray and garlic spray will work. In tandem.

The .22 cal would work if I could shoot straight.

I agree with PT. Unfortunately the final solution is the only effective solution to squirrels, unless one wants to live trap and move the critters to another location.

In either case good luck ridding yourself of them.

Since we live in town, I'm afraid shooting them is not a possibility. So far the moth balls seem to be working. We did an internet search and read that the smell of freshly dug dirt is what attracts them. Hopefully that smell will disappear soon and they'll go back to trying to steal bird seed! If not, we might try our hand at a slingshot!
