I will never ignore a bad feeling again. The Honda, which Chris had taken to the dealership two days ago because it's electrical stuff was al wacky, and the dealer then assured us that the car was fine, lost all electrical power five miles short of the Alabama state line.

Anyway.

Mike, I'm so glad you didn't introducer her as your "Friend." That's a very good thing.

Allison. Two words: China Cabinet.

Kick ass! That's the best news, evah! You will love that apartment, with the cool window things and the china cabinet in the dining room and the new stove and all that wonderful stuff. I am so happy y'all got that apartment. It's just so great. Oh - the floors are in great shape, too.

T's message from the other thread.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

It's double thread day!

T - you really need to update. Really now.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Blam! I'm IN, people. I have a stupid meeting with stupid Napoleon this morning for which I have prepared nada. So, I came in early, for once. I have been here for a whole hour! Can you believe it?! Hee.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

In all my spare time?

Seriously, between wedding stuff, work (which continues to drive me crazy), getting stuff out of my apartment, and being gone every single weekend since May, and I'll be gone every weekend until the end of July, I can't even shop for a wedding dress (which is kind of important), much less write a decent update.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Hey! My thread was there first!

Ugh. Today is going to be crazy. I think we have to drive to Douglasville tonight to pick the Honda up - it was towed there on Friday night.

Joh - do you think there are any bridal shops in Vegas? Seriously, i need to look a dresses. I found a GORGEOUS dress in New Orleans, but it's $3,000.

We did find a photographer, though. PRAISES!!! I liked the band at Maggie's wedding, and they have a horn section, but they didn't let my cousin Colleen sing "Fever," as she does at every family wedding, and I thought that was pretty damn suck ass.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

I believe it is very, very possible to shop for a wedding dress in Vegas. Excrusice Berragio Hotel have many shop.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

oh yeah. I think that's like the wedding dress capital of the world.

Did you book the photog you spoke with before?

How was the wedding?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

You know, why doesn't anybody in the world answer their phone any more? I mean, me included.

Andrea just called, and I didn't answer, so she left a message, which I listened to, and I called her back immediately, and she didn't answer. All within the span of two minutes.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

I may have to look in Vegas, then.

The wedding was beautiful, but too big. 750 guests. Great food, though. The music was more contemporary than I'd like for my wedding.

THis photographer - he's amazing. I've seen a lot of wedding photographs, and his were just the best I've seen, ever. My mother and I were moved almost to tears by some of th photographs.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Oh, T, that's so good! I hate seeing cheesy wedding photos where everybody looks all fake and uncomfortable. I have this one with my friend Kristen that was taken outside at her wedding, and the guy has us facing into the sun and we look crazy, because we're trying so hard not to squint. Our eyes are open all extra wide. It's hilarious, and we laugh about it, but that photographer sucked.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!

Y'all, I have to run an errand, but when I return, I will give you tales of woe, and why I am running this infernal errand in the first place.

Oh, the crazy jags I call co-workers.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Yes. A good photographer is like the 2nd most important thing. I think the perfect dress is first.

The groom is probably 5 or 6 on the list. Heh.

750?? So, who are you going to shun to make your list smaller?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

I can't wait to hear T's story...

I updated. It was a cheat.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Al - where do you find all those great old photos?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

What is UP, y'all?!

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Mike!

It's true. I must update, even if it's a half-ass update.

Al, what's the timeline for this week?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

T - tell us your crazy co-worker story!!

Mike - how was the party? Did the introductions go well?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Our CEO is crazy. Crazy, like he asks our receptionist to follow his wife around. Today, he was supposed to have lunch with Cynthia, my old boss, and her new boss. Cynthia's car was dead, so Matt was supposed to pick her up on his way to Midtown. He leaves. THEN, our receotionist came into my office and told me that I needed to pick Cynthia up.

The hell???

Matt drove RIGHT BY her house. I picked her up, drover her to midtown, and took a really long lunch. Jag. I am not an errang girl, and if you ask me to be one, I will say, "Fine! But watch me take a two-hour lunch!"

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

The party did, indeed, go well. Thank y'all for the advice ... it was excatly correct.

I did, however, decide that I have to buy a house so I can putz around, knock down walls and build things. Not that I have any talent for that.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Wait. He sent you to go pick someone up? Lame. I want to take a two hour lunch.

I can not wait to lay by the pool.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

He sent me to pick someone up.

Jag.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

I am soooooooooooo upset. I think I'm going to have to pay $100 to go to San Antonio on Friday. Southwest has suddenly turned against me and there are no deals and no specials.

Maybe I'll priceline it... that would be hilarious.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Where did Al go? Meeting with Napolean perhaps.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Yes, I had a meeting with N. Now I'm back. And hating all airlines.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

I thought Dallas to SA was like *always* $60. Stupid Southwest.

Because you sort of HAVE to fly, right?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Wait - are you flying down there on Friday, packing his place, driving to Dallas, loading your place, and then driving to Atlanta?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Yes ma'am.

The schedule:

Well, my brother is now not coming out to help with the stuff, but my mother is getting here Wednesday... which is in two days, which I cannot believe. Anyway, Mother and I are going to pack everything in the whole world, I'm going to fly to San Antonio on Friday, we're loading Chris's stuff and driving back up on Saturday night, loading the truck in Dallas on Sunday and leaving either that day or the next morning. We spend one day in B'ham and then move into the place in ATL on the 27th.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Wow.

The 27th is next Wednesday, right? We have plenty of room, what if the bed is underneath boxes, and all, and y'all need someplace to sleep and take a shower and come and go as you please while you get everything together.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Yeah, it's insane. We'll be all right, though. JoLo is just going to have to deal. I don't even have time to keep her in check. If she's crazy and Chris sees it, better now than later, I guess.

We've put down a deposit so, he can't back out on me now.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

As if backing out has even crossed his mind.

If you want a sane person around, I'll be free all of next week. Also, is there anything that needs to be done at the apartment before you arrive?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

T, you're missing a career as a concierge. Hee!

I don't think so. I just talked to Andrea, she got our deposit, everything looks good. As far as I know, the apt will be ready for us to move in on the 27th.

Here is my current issue: My living room is really pretty. I like all my furniture, a lot. However, we should probably use Chris's couch, because it's more comfortable. It's a nice couch, so that's fine. But I don't want to get rid of my couch. My mom may take it and use it, but I want it. What to do? Having two couches would be dumb, but maybe I could squeeze it in somewhere else? Not having seen the place makes it harder to know.

I just love my stuff, is the problem. I hate it that we have to use Chris's bedroom furniture, but y'all, we just can't use mine. My bed is a double, and it's like being on the Titanic when we sleep in it. I nearly get thrown off almost every night.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Will you put your bedroom stuff in the 2nd room? Because if you guys were thinking of making that mor elike an office, then you can put your couch in there?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Gross. I just got photos back and I look like fatty fatterton in all of them. Hate!

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

My stuff will go in that second room.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

oh Allison, that Milton guy sounds creepy. But if he ewas fired, what was he doing talking on the phone afterwards?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Allison, since you said your breakfast table is smaller, you could easily fit your beautiful sofa in the dining room - maybe have a sitting area and have the table near the china cabinet?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Okay, I updated. It's half-ass, though.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

I liked the will line. I leave you all my debt and a girly car. Hee.

How is it possible that I managed to not work out at all, even though we've been planning this Vegas trip for months? I just hope there's some old guy in a Speedo so I won't be the grossest person at the pool.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

You won't be gross. I promise.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Allison, since you said your breakfast table is smaller, you could easily fit your beautiful sofa in the dining room - maybe have a sitting area and have the table near the china cabinet?

You think a sofa and a table would fit in there? You know I have no idea how large or small the rooms are... what to do?!

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

What's the diameter of the table?

I swear - I know what the apartment looks like, and you know what the furniture looks like. There are so many cool things you could do with this apartment. If the table is small small, then you could put it in the kitchen. You could feasibly have a living room with a tv, etc - a den, if you will - in the main living room, and then have the China cabinet/transom room as a more formal living room with your pretty pretty sofa, and some bookshelves, and you could even do cirtain things over the transoms, since they're paned windows that open from the left side, rather than from the middle, like traditional transoms.

And GIRL. You will die when you see the TJ Maxx and More out by our house. It's called TJ Maxx and More because the More part is all housewares. IT's the best place, EVAH! You will just die.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

This is the dress - it's the second one in the top row:

http://www.theknot.com/bs_results_local.html? DesignerID=73&lastviewed=27&path1=weddinggowns&GownType=1&Boutique=&Ex clusive=&path2=designer&saved=&size=1

I'd have it in white, of course. (You may have to make sure all that stuff is smushed together.)

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

T - the link's not working. Who's hte designer?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Lazaro. It's gown # 8113.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

In the list of 1 - 45, which one is it? Or how do you sort by number?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

It's number 27, I think.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

The strapless with the tulle skirt and the flowers? It's beautiful. Did you try it on?

All of those gowns are gorgeous.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

No - in the photo, the dress looks golden - it has a full, full box- pleated satin skirt and embroidery on the bodice.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Wow, that skirt is amazing. All of Lazaro's gowns are so nice. Did you try it on, though?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

T - did you see that the new Southern Living Weddings is out?

I nearly bought a copy and had it in my hand and was like "Wait. I don't need this!" But I wanted it. Get it!

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

I did try it on - it was exquisite. I must have a dress with a skirt like that. Plus, the sample fit me perfectly, so I was able to get a good idea of what the finished product would be like.

However, at $3000, even the fact that my sisters all adored the dress isn't justification enough.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

I bought the Southern Living Weddings this afternoon - I can't wait to get home to read it.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Woooo, $3,000 is crazy. Spend that money on something you'll use again. But man, it's pretty, I gotta say. I'm sure you can find one you like for less. I mean, our dear Mrs. Seest did. The LORD will help you!

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

oh, but you must have a skirt like that. You can find something else, for sure.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

I will definitely have a skirt like that. I'd actually prefer a v- neck style, but I must have a skirt like that. It was just so gorgeous.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

I liked that first one with the v neck and the off the shoulder cuff sleeves. I think that cut would be good for you.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Where is Miss Anna Beth these days? And didn't Mike pop in earlier? Did we scare him off with the wedding talk?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Huh? I'm sorry ... Chris, the MOC, Vince Chao and I were all in the living room talking NBA Finals. AB's in there too, I think.

Heh. Nah, just busy here. This is my only day shift of the week, so I'm trying to touch base with everyone here.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

When did Chris and the MOC become 2 different people?

Clazy Bermanator.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

The living room? Wha?

My mother told Edna she's get rehearsal dinner information to her TWO WEEKS AGO. My mother doesn't understand why I'm incredibly pissed at her because she hasn't gotten ANYTHING to Edna. Nice way to make a good first impresson, ma.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

H, you know, there's the MOC and then there's T's Chris.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

The Chrisses! Them and their American history.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Oh, that's right.

What did the wedding coord. say about your house and a reception etc.? Do you think it'll be hard to keep teh guest count at 350?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Exactly, although they are doing amazing things with cloning these days.

Hey, maybe we're talking American History instead of the NBA.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Melanis (the cordinator) thinks we can absolutely do 300/350. We're going to tent the whole side yard and put the band out there - we're going to have a pianist inside the house - most of the furniture will be moved out (what the neighbors have done for their reception is rent a u-haul, pack it up with furniture, park it down the street, and unload it the next day). All the french doors will be open, and the caterers will have full run of the kitchen. The dog will be kennelled. We'll have a dance floor brought in, and there will be a bar on the side porch, and one near the tent - probably at the back of the porch on the tent side of the house. Both bars will be accessible via the porches and the French doors, if that makes sense.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

What about bathrooms? And you'll get shuttles to bring people from the church?

I think it would've been more fun if you could've just tented teh trampoline.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Uh... and what about Chicken? And Turtle?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Well, chicken will have on her Sunday Best, clearly.

Okay, y'all. I'm out. I feel like I have a bajillion errands to run. I got photos back of the Little Peep from yesterday. There's not a cuter baby alive. I mean it.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Well, the servant's bathroom is on the side of the house, outside, and there's a bathroom on the main floor, and there are two bathrooms on the second-floor landing. I think we're good to go, as far as bathrooms are concerned.

Melanie insisted that Chicken be a part of the party. The first thing she said when I answered the door was, "Do you know that there's a chicken in your yard?? I love it!"

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Well, may I highly suggest you use Turtle as a centerpiece? I mean, why not? Where's he gonna go?

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

I'm pretty sure putting him on a table with the food would violate some food services regulations in the caterers' contracts.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

If only we could teach Turtle how to spout champagne from his nostrils.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

If I saw him do that, odds are pretty good I'd soon be spraying champagne from mine as I cracked up laughing.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

The question really is whether or not turtles even have nostrils.

I saw just get him a formal salad bowl and make him a part of the festivities.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

oops.

saw = say.

-- Anonymous, June 18, 2001

Hee!

Well, that's it for me (for today). I'm going to the gym for the second time this month - not a trend I want to stay with.

Have great nights, all of you!
