Could anyone, please, tell me the year of manufacture of the following items: 100 APO macro 3-cams 3468145; 50 f2 ROM 3841471; R6.2 2482301. And a second question, although I bought my R6.2 brand new (or at least theoretically brand new) I have realised that the head of the top screw of the bayonet mount is slightly different that the other five screws. I wonder whether this is normal or not. My suspicious behaviour is caused by the fact that the first brand new R6.2 that the dealer sent me was not brand new, in my opinion. The internal thread of the lock-up mirror hole was brassed and the mirror dirty.I sent it back and I got a second body, no questions asked. Thanks in advance and sorry for bothering you with so irrelevant questions.

I can't find the serial #'s, they're too new for my books. The 100 APO is just beyond my numbers, I'll guess it's around 1989-90. THe 50 ROM is within the last 3 years, and the R6.2 is definitely late- production because mine is in the 1,900,000 range. However, on all 4 of my R bodies the bayonet-flange mounting screws are identical cross- type heads.

I purchased a new, USA, R6.2 early last month (serial number in the 2236000 range, believe it or not). The uppermost cross-head screw in the lens mount is slightly, subtly different from the other five screws. It has a flat face, while others are slightly rounded. I never would have noticed if you hadn't asked. I suspect that your camera is perfectly normal, or we both have oddball cameras. If it's covered by the Leica Passport warranty, then you're in good shape anyway.

According to my information, the 100 Macro was made in 1988 and the 50 f:2 was made after 1996. I do not have any numbers that new for the R6.2

I have a new R6.2 and the head of the top srew is also different. I asked Mr. Braun at Leica yesterday and he told me that it was nothing to worry about. The screw is longer than the others, so it may have a different head. Jürgen
