Yesterday, my favorite, long-time friend Nubian presented us with triplets. Two bucks (beauties!) and a doe. The birth was normal, and easy and she didn't need any assistance. The runt (doe) was born first, and she wasn't breathing. I suctioned out her mouth and nose and still nothing, so, (gasp!) I gave her a breath from my own, and she started breathing. I then noticed that she didn't feel right. Her chest was squashed from side to side, like a pancake. Her shoulder blades were misaligned, and she was very limp. Then, the other kids presented, the largest being the last. She was incredibly weak. I gave her a bo-se shot, and weak kid syringed her some colostrum, but, about 6 hours later she died. sigh. I can only figure that she was on the bottom of the "barrel" and was squashed and didn't develop properly. Oh, and I also noticed that her umbilical cord was as thin as a toothpick. Not enough nutrition, I guess. I figure, that when I get to heaven, I will already have a full farm!! Just another deposit for eternity. Sissy

What a shame Sissy! I have successfully used Dexamethazone on babies who were not breathing when born. I like your philosophy though, I to believe the same, and loved Oprah's take on lost loved ones being angles we already know! Vicki

Sissy,I'm sure sorry about your little doe. It always saddens me when I lose any little one- bunny, puppy, chick, just anything. At least there is affection and love between you and your little friends.
Congradulations on the two nice looking bucks.
In Peace,
