A room in the basement of our house was used for a coal room years ago. I would love to clean it up and use it for a storage room for home canned goods, etc. BUT I don't know what to do with the coal and coal dust in there. Anyone have any ideas?

if you have a wood stove,, you can burn alittle at a time, dependsing on how much,, you could using it on a dirt/gravel driveway. Have a real hot outdoor fire / BBQ

Soak newspapers until they turn to mush, stir in coal dust and mould into bricks. Compress as much as possible, dry and use them in your stove.

Hi Becky; i had a pickup load of coal from the previous owner and tryed to give it away for years no takers. this year aat the old tractor show there was a guy doing blacksmith work and i ask him where he got his coal. he told me he ordered it and it cost 7,50 for 50 lbs. i told him i would give him a pu load if he would come and get it. shold of seen his face. so now he has a pu load of coal and i have a new friend. works for me Bob se. ks.

Perhaps put a freebie ad in a local shopper newspaper... or find some place that does historical re-enactments (Coal stove, blacksmith, etc.) and donate it to them. Burn it a little at a time in a woodstove or fireplace...
