Who wants to see the WUSA ads?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Aeon Flux : One Thread |
I'm pretty sure we all do. Since we've all been having a little bit of trouble finding them, I propose everyone interested in being able to see these little beauties (and if you haven't seen them - they are great - I've only caught glimpses of them twice) Submit a request via email for the WUSA animated TV spots by Peter Chung to requests@adcritic.com - they will not reply to your email, but the more people who request it, the more likely it is that they will put it up on the site. All ads that get put on the site are in quicktime or real video, and they're available on demand. So let's all unite to catch a little glimpse of Aeon greatness!!!

I did request this of them, btw, what do these spots look like? Are they reminiscent of Aeon? Can you describe them?

Like I said I've only caught fleeting glances of them but what I've seen is cool. You'll see a player like Mia Hamm (in live action) and then while she's moving forward to kick a ball, she kind of morphs into an Aeonized version of herself. It's very distinctly Peter Chung. So much so that the two times I caught pieces of them, I wasn't even paying very close attention to the TV, The Aeon-style of animation totally grabbed me out of the corner of my eye and I'd catch like the last 20 seconds and say "I can't believe I &%^$*!@ missed it!!!!"---By the way, I caught it once on CNNSI (not a channel of choice for me, but it was during lunch at a sports bar and that's what they had on) I don't know what channel it was the other time

I don't know what exactly I was watching so much when these commercials ran... but I kept on seeing them - a great pleasure to me. That's when I originally posted on this board, alerting everyone to their presence and getting Peter's confirmation. Here is what they look like...Basically what has been said - showing characters spring into animated action and play some soccer. The characters are in Chung form to the fullest, and when you see it be prepared for a rush of fond Aeon memories.
There is one segment in particular etched in my mind... one woman shot the ball - and it cut to a goalie diving to save the ball. But as the ball went by the goalie's diving hands - this really *really* connected with me as making it a work of Peter Chung - there was a trail (it must've been smoke in the commercial) left behind in the air that looked like an Aeon Flux gunshot blood-spurt. Fans of the show, I am sure you know exactly what I mean. When someone gets shot the blood just spits out in an incredible multi-arcing spiny strangely unique... spurt.
When we get ahold of this commercial somebody will have to confirm that they understand this post, so I don't think I am going mad ;)
