Beetles

Does anyone know a good website for identifying insects. One with photos. Besides the Japanese beetles, I have a large irridescent green beetle now. (Zone 6) It's 3 - 4 times the J.B. size. Don't seem to be eating anything yet but there are lots of them. Thanks for any help

sorry, I don't, but that's a good question and I am gonna go look for one! In the meantime, take one of those pretty sounding beetles to your county extension service and put 'em to work Id ing it. :-)

Joan, I'm in North Carolina which is Zone 7. It sounds like it may be what we call a June Bug. I'm sure that's not the "proper" name. When I was a kid my mom would tie a string around one of their legs (not easy to do) and we kids would hold the string and watch the June Bug fly around for entertainment. They apparently come from a grub in the ground and you would see lots of them this time of year - particularly after a rain.
