Spongy front brakes?greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread |
I've got about 800 miles on my new F4S and I've noticed that the front brake lever has a quite a bit of travel and is also a bit spongy. I've heard that this was a problem that has been corrected, does anyone else have this or know of a fix?

Yes, since 2 weeks you can contact your importer trough your dealer. There is an update kit for front master cylinder, I've tested the feeling of front brake on the new Brutale it's amazingly short and stiff....BR

Try to compress the brake lever with a bungee cord or something like that, leave it this way for a day and try again. At my bike it worked great. W. Bernreuther

I mentioned the problem of spongy front brakes to my dealer. He said that the problem is know by the manufacturer. the only solution he gave is : every 2000 km, but the bike on your stand, with a screwdriver push the pistons on each side of both discs inside slowly, shake a little bit the brake lines and tap the pump, remove the screwdrivers and slowly start braking. It works very well, takes only 5 lin, but be carefull with the screwdrivers not to damage the discs or the paths.
In any case, I would like to find a definite solution. I loved the brakes of my 916.
