Ok They finally got here. So far we have counted 7 may be more. My question is how long should we wait to clean up the mother and wash her covers?

They are definitely cute. :o)

When my bitches welp I count puppies and give mama milk as soon as she is finished, but then I try to leave them be for a day or so. Mama will wash herself, and the pups. Just make sure she gets them out of the "bag" so they don't suffocate incase she gets busy with the next pup coming.

Congrats!

Yes Kenneth, we allowed our girls to clean themselves and their puppies up unless at birth the numbers we overwhelming and she was not getting them out of the sack. I usually gave her clean covers (we used old good will blankets) after she was done and had cleaned herself and the puppies up. You can look the puppies over as you lift them over into the clean bed and then pretty much leave her alone.

My goodness, that dog was LATE. All this time and she just now had the pups? I put a clean rag under the mom after each pup, to keep the underneath blanket as clean as possible. I don't wait long after the last one. I put the pups in a basket, and get mom out and clean her up in the tub, just the back part. It will get all dried and sticky and pull on the hair. If you want to just give her a whole warm bath it's ok too. Then I give them all a clean blanket and a safe place where the pups can't crawl far from her.

I give my girls lots of warm milk, oatmeal, and soaked dog food. Be sure the smallest pups are getting as much as the bigger ones. You can let them nurse in 2 batches, smallest and biggest. Otherwise, the bigger ones will get more than their share. What time were they born? Boys and girls?

She went over by a week. My wife was getting frantic. Since it was so late last night we let her stay in the den she built out of the covers. We'll swap clean covers today. She had them on the couch. Easy births no problems.

Warm milk, oatmeal and soaked dry food. Gotcha. Haven't sexed them yet. Will let you know soon.

If the moveing around is an indication, There going to be "very" active pups.

Ya'll have a good day. :o)

What kind of dog and pups are they. Remember to film them. I love looking at my old home movies with the puppy litter
