I'm thinking about starting a Cashmere goat herd. Is there anyone out there with Cashmere goats in Southern Ontario? I'm told there are only 10 breeders in this province but none appear to be on the net.

I happened to be searching for pedigrees and information on my Alpines a few days ago and came upon some good sites for Canadian breeders. to start with, you can try going to http://www.agdomain.com then to breeders, then to goats and then to locations. The Canadian links is:

Speaking of Cashmeres, what can you get for the fleece per goat per year?

Russ, as someone who has cashmeres, have you already decided how to handle the fleece you get and how to get it dehaired provided you plan to sell it directly or use it yourself? It can be a giant pain no matter what method you use. Please feel free to email me with any questions.
