aphids on 2nd ear of corn on stalk

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Checked out my corn this morning and was delighted to see that the first ear of corn on each stalk looks good, but upon closer inspection of the second ear, I saw that most of them were loaded with aphids, complete with eggs and larvae. Can I do anything to help these younger more tender ears? Will it be a matter of ime before those buggers will get me whole crop of corn? Like I mentioned, the older ones look fine but those little ears are just infested. I don't know how deep the bugs go, they appear to be "just inside" the outer husk. I looked in the archives but really didn't see to much to help me with this particular problem. Thanks ahead for you input.

I wonder if Diotomaceous Earth would work; don't see why it wouldn't. Doesn't cost much to try! dh in nm

DE won't work here cuz aphids are soft bodied.
