Absu

In Chaldaen cosmology, Absu represents immense space, source of primeval waters where Ab, father of all waters and lord of wisdom, lives.

Baphomet

A corruption of Mahomet, an imaginary idol (but sourced from a reviled version of Mohammed, Islam's last true Prophet) which Knights Templars supposedly worshipped with licentious rites.

Belphegor

An Assyrian form of Baal-Peor, a Moabite god to whom Israelites attached themselves in Shittim, associated with licentious rites. His name means "lord of Peor", referring to Mount Peor on river Jordan's left bank, centre of his cult.

A demon in a medieval Latin legend also bore this name.

Agathodemon

I assume that AGOTHADAIMON took their name from here – it means A Good Spirit – as opposed to an evil one (A Cacodemon).

Cybele

Also known as Kybele and Magna Mater and Mother of the Gods. Originally Phrygian, she represented a goddess of caverns, of our Earth in its primitive state, worshipped on mountain tops. She ruled over wild beasts, and also acted as a bee goddess.

Judas Iscariot

An apostle of Jesus Christ who betrayed him to his land's Sanhedrin, a name given to Jews' supreme national tribunal.

Langsuyar

As Fernando in Moonspell used to call himself. I think it comes from Langsoir: a Malay vampire, a restless undead form of a woman who died in childbirth, and who now preys upon infants and children. Some say she must feed by putting her victim to her neck's nape. This would mean she would prefer smaller victims.
