In the judging of all livestock appropriately attached and properly descended testicles is important for the judging of the male species. In dog shows and goat shows, especially judging young stock, it is pretty typical for the judge to check.

Yes they do .I beleive its a fault in the akc show ring if the testicles are not decended .

They sure do make sure they are both there! It is a disqualification if they both are not descended. They don't "handle" them...they quickly make sure both are where they should be and move on. The need to do this is obvious in coated breeds.

Males that can't do their job are obviously faulty - ask any woman - except a feminist.

Mr Black, I find it sad that someone would think it was kinky to handle a dog's testicles to check out the health of the animal. Get a life, please, sir.

Growing up around animals breeding at will has exposed me to all the intricasies that occur, including males stuck inside females while they wander after the act because his swelling has not as yet gone down. My kids came with me when I brought my mare to be bred. For some it is part of life. Then there was the woman who called the police because a neighbor was allowing her horses to field breed. Heaven forbid such a natural act should occur where she could see it! Imagine if she saw my breeder holding the stallion's appendige while he bred to be sure he did not plunge too deeply into the mare to avoid injury! What has happened to our society that the details of life should be such a disgusting thing? This reminds me of a story in the papers recently when the state was called because kids were watching a cow be butchered so they knew where their food came from. Do we think doctors are perverts when they handle these things before medical students?

Don, I don't want to bust your bubble here but dogs who have two undecended testicles have no problem with performing. They just don't sire puppies. If just one has dropped they can sire puppies and will pass this trait along. Also, undescended testicles tend to be tumorous. Not sure what a "feminest" is, never got a consistant reply to that. LOL

To quote Rebecca West: I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is; I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat or a prostitute.

I think the question is well asked, some people do not know what is really necessary to raise and care for animals properly. I recently had to explain to a seven year old that you must check the skin around the genitals for ticks, and that some people have "wrong thoughts" about about this, and that taking care of someone (animal or human) who can't take care of themself, is nescessary at times, and it should not be thought of as a sexual event, it is sad that some people don't know the difference.

Thank you Joy,for the memory.,and unfortunately how true it still is.......................

And thank you Thumper, for a good giggle with the reference to 'wrong thoughts'..........

Laughing is good...........

When your trying to get a champion status, those points are just as important as the others... and they wash their hands when they're done :>)
