Well, I'll save *how* we got this goat for another time--but my wife wanted one, now we have one! Problem is, I have no clue what kind of goat it is other than gentle, pretty, and female (We've named her Lauren--we have two good freinds, Aaron and Lauren, and Aaron's nick name is "Goat-boy" from his goatee...we swore our first goat would be named "Aaron-boy" or "Aaron", but since she's female, we've named her after his girlfreind :)--she's honored, by the way ). Kinda looks like a Boar mix with ???. Could be all Boar, but it has a dairy looking body...maybe just skinny in need of worming. ;-)

Here's a link Bernie. You can do VIEW, SOURCE, and then copy and paste the URL starting with http and ending with jpg. I think because you used capitol letters Brendan, it dosen't always come thru, mine didn't. Do img and src in small letters. It does look like a Boer cross.

Got the pics finally. It definitely has Boer. If it is a mix I would have to say the other breed was Nubian. If it was a Boer cross with something else, I would expect to see airplane ears. Since the ears are hanging nicely, (although a little short), I believe this is a Boer/Nubian cross.

She seems to be doing well, as unprepared as we were for her, we're temporarily keeeping her in the dog's crate inside, until I can build a pen next to the chickens pen. I've searched Google for pages, but as usual, google did too well, and gave more places than I could reasonably visit--anyone know of a good goat site? We've been feeding her vegetables from the garden, and she seems to like the cracked corn for the chickens. WIll a dog house type structure work for her, even in winter? how much space for a pen? 8x12? (not all the time, we'll let her run around on a 20' lead most of the time). Fine to let her mow the lawn, err, eat grass? [grin]

Grass mower, hmmm? Well, seems like the ones I have gotten lately won't touch the grass, but love trees, bushes, weeds and anything else! Sure are independent little critters. She's cute, by the way, and I think the rest are right, Nubian/Boer cross. Jan

Well... if she is a boer mix she will not produce a lot of milk. usually the cross with a meat deminishes the ability for milk production. You might want to try the following websites for information; http://www.cybergoats.com http://www.boergoat.com or goats http://www.agdomain.com, go to breeders on left, then livestock, then goats by breeds. hope this helps. i used to know of a lot of good meat goat sites.
