I'm looking for on-line information on ultra-frugal living.

The Dollar Stretcher online has some good frugal-living advice.

You can also check the Backwoods Home web site www.backwoodshome.com (I think), and check their web links. I seem to remember one called Frugal Squirrel. Haven't been there in a while, but I remember some pretty good info.Hope this helps.

http://frugal-moms.com/ I use this one a lot and go on from here to their different links you will definately find a lot information in the area. Jenn

go to: http://www.homestead.org/The best site though is your own brain. Just sit down with pencil and paper and write down things you would like to cut back on,save,do without, etc. then think about different ways you can do to accomplish them goals and write them down for reference.

I think Frugal Squirrel is a survival site more than a frugal site, but has lots of good information.

The Cheapskate Monthly has an excellent site, especially the tip viewer, where you can browse by subject or by postings within last 30 days (or fewer).http://www.cheapskatemonthly.com/tiptionary/viewTips.html

My favorite (besides this one) is www.slnet.com. It's the Simple Living Network. Great site!

Whoops! Thank you c-u-later. You were right, Frugal Squirrel is a survivalist directory. The site I was trying to recommend was the Ant, same link, same magazine web site. Sorry for the mixup. Knew the name had to do with critters.

Have there been any threads in the past in this forum on how people were making it on minimal incomes??

You might also read the recycle/reuse archived messages below. Others have listed my favorites above. Here are a few more, I apologize if some of the links are not working, I got the list from somewhere else and do not have time at the moment to check them all (lots of canning going on).Homesteading http://www.survival-center.com/home1.htm http://www.pioneerpc.com/wildernessway/Pages/core.htm http://www.tvsonline.net/~alberts/hmstead/ http://www.wmich.edu/tillers/ http://www.backwoodshome.com/radioshow.html http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/theoldhomestead http://www.homestead.org/ http://www.realgoods.com/ http://www.lehmans.com/ http://www.shoalstrading.com/surv.htm http://www.korpegard.nu/jan/knots.html http://www.yonderway.com/rural/default.shtml http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/Vines/4095/ http://www.mcsi.net/ssp/homesteaders/ http://www.gardenweb.com/forums/farmlife/ http://www.countrysidemag.com/ http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and- a.tcl?topic=Countryside http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/ottaway/dw_home1.htm http://enertia.com/ http://www.kountrylife.com/index.htm http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/9610/index.html http://www.anvilfire.com/ http://www.cumberlandgeneral.com/ http://www.hometown.aol.com/thesoapmaker/soapmakingtutorial.htm http://puma.chaski.com/wwwboards/machine/ http://198.209.8.166/sheproom/periodicals/bittersweet/bswtoc.htm http://www.endoftheoregontrail.org/biomenu.html http://www.farmboys.com/back2eden/ http://www.yonderway.com/rural/default.shtml http://www.makestuff.com/kidstuff.html http://www.insweb.com/

Good question! There was a site I loved on frugal living that was hosted by Debi Taylor-Hough, then they had to move forums and I haven't been able find it since. Any ideas?

Try looking for the "Tightwad Gazette". It's an excellent book, but not sure if there is a website.
-- Marcia (HrMr@webtv.net), August 04, 2001.
There are three tightwad gazette books that I know of and they are excellent. You can find them for sale on Ebay. Pricey, but if you watch you can pick one up cheap when no one is watching. I got one copy for under $5. You can stil buy new copies by ordering from your bookstore - but pricey $12. I lucked out and found two copies of the first book for my daughters at a used book store. Very popular so they sell quick. Also, check half.com for books.

check http://www.abebooks.com for used or hard to find books. It's a consortium with the inventories of over 14,000 independent booksellers in its database.
