I recently tuned into the greenspun.com forums, because I was curious about this kind of stuff. I am flabbergasted that people can get caught up into these nutty things. It is another form of a cult: everybody sticks their head in the same sand hole, away from the rest of what is going on in the world, and their whole sense of reality changes.

I looked at the U.S.Govt forum first; wow, can't believe a lot of these people actually breathe the same air that I do. I even saw a Y2K forum, but it is "private" and needed a password, so I wasn't able to view it.

I guess the whole deal with the "New World Order" stuff is that people want to have something to blame for why they are not where they think they should be in life. These nutty sites allow them to blame something else for their failures.
