More popular than the 1998 Guam elections

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MATH Plus One : One Thread

This forum is now slightly ahead of the 1998 Guam elections, Casey Affleck and Marin Urology on the popularity scale, according to http://greenspun.com/bboard/sort-by-n-messages.tcl

Which leads me to this question ... is there some random statistic you keep track of? The amount of people on your notify list? Brady Anderson's batting average? What?

We're ahead of Casey Affleck? Dizamn!

I used to check my stats/referral logs about a thousand times a day when I first started my journal. I think it's that weird hit-whore thing that strikes every new journaller. Now I don't check them as much, and it's sad that the excitement's faded.

Hmmm. Maybe I'll check them now!

Well, we're cooler than Casey Affleck, so that's all good. Although ... we're gaining on REM, and I'm not sure we're that cool yet.

I check the number of people on my notify list about 17 times a day, even though it's pretty static. Then, of course, there's my fantasy baseball team ... I have to check those scores and statistics every few minutes when games are in progress.

Oh, I am still very much a hit whore, 13 months (to the day) after starting the journal. And I can tell you how many people are on the notify and how many have me listed as a favorite on Diaryland. 'Cause I'm insecure like that.

I keep track of the weather and petrol prices, even when I'm inside all day and I don't need to fill up my car. I also keep track of my football team's position on the ladder, but that's not really random.

I've never checked my referral logs... I must do that now.

Well, I used to check my stats constantly but now only once in awhile. Although, I can tell you exactly what my average number of hits per day is, and the last time it changed. (Not for awhile. Sob.)

Mike - how are we doing now? Have we reached R.E.M. proportions?

-- Anonymous, August 21, 2001

Alas and alack, no. We just passed "Reiswijs...", which I assume is something not in English. Next up: "HTML Playground", followed closely by "San Francisco History".

-- Anonymous, August 21, 2001

We cannot pass REM. Chris will have to stop posting here, on principle.

-- Anonymous, August 21, 2001

See, what ARE some of those threads? I went into heathledger.com chat room, just to see what all the 46 thousand post fuss was all about and I got disoriented by all the "u guyz suck!" and "i looooooooooooove heeeeaaaaaaath" posts. Oddly enough, no one mentioned his rumored gayness.

But what's the 2000 timebomb thing?

-- Anonymous, August 22, 2001

I personally cannot wait until we pass "HTML Playground." Just the name cracks me up.

-- Anonymous, August 22, 2001

Wasn't than a song by Another Bad Creation back in the 89s?

-- Anonymous, August 22, 2001

80s, not 89s. I can't type without coffee.

-- Anonymous, August 22, 2001

But I sort of like "89s." God, that dress is so 89s.

-- Anonymous, August 22, 2001

And if you're a teenager, you can go "MOM! I can live with my boyfriend if I want! It's not the 89s any more!"

-- Anonymous, August 22, 2001

By the way, the ABC hit was "Aiesha." We played Nintendo / She couldn't stay out that late / Her mother told her to be ho-ome at nine . . .

In my defense, I'm listening to OutKast as I type this.

-- Anonymous, August 22, 2001

So who sang 'At the Playground' then?

Maybe I should ask that in the 'Worst Songs' thread?

-- Anonymous, August 22, 2001

I mean, that is how the song starts: At the play-y-ground / you know I saw this cutie . . . and so on.

-- Anonymous, August 22, 2001

I think I'm thinking of a different song ... the chorus just goes "At the Playground."

All right, sad though it is, I did a google search and it is indeed a seperate song: http://lyrics.freesoftwarearchive.com/lyrics/Another_Bad_Creation/Non_ Album_Tracks/Playgroundabc.html

To keep this on-topic, we have officially passed the HTML Playground peeps.

And we're coming up fast on R.E.M. What will the MOC do?

-- Anonymous, August 22, 2001

The MOC is feeling at bit nervous about the whole thing.

I'll adjust. Maybe.

-- Anonymous, August 22, 2001

Why, the Spelling Queen is YOU, Miss Anna Beth!

I do remember the SEPARATE mantra coming out of your purty little mouth while I was visitin'.

-- Anonymous, August 22, 2001

My friend Encycolpedia says to remind yourself that the two As are SEPARATED by the R.

-- Anonymous, August 22, 2001

And that there's "a rat" in separate.

Alas, Jessie MissKeli, Junior, the Spelling Queen is not me, unless my IP address picked up and moved to Virginia.

Y'all. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to see what forums are the most popular. So will someone please tell me if we're as big as The Chicken Zone?

Would it be alright if I posted in The Chicken Zone, also?

-- Anonymous, August 25, 2001

T - it's at http://greenspun.com/bboard/sort-by-n-messages.tcl

And we're kicking The Chicken Zone's ass, so post there to your heart's content.

People, at this rate we will never overtake Mountaineering or like sands. . . .

Ship shape!

-- Anonymous, August 27, 2001

Thanks Mike. Because, see, sometimes I'm rather thick and I don't see links that are glaringly obvious.

-- Anonymous, August 29, 2001

We're now less than a hundred away from R.E.M.

As you were.

-- Anonymous, September 05, 2001

Rock and roll.

-- Anonymous, September 05, 2001

We are getting nowhere fast, guys.

Come on! Where's your team spirit? Let's crush those Humpty Dumpty Y2K weinies! Let's beat the pants off of those weirdos in FRL Friends!

Somebody, tell me what FRL means. please.

Fancy Request Live? For Real Life? Farcical Rock Lovers?

-- Anonymous, September 06, 2001

I'm guessing From Real Life. Weirdos.

-- Anonymous, September 06, 2001

A moment of silence for the MOC. We've moved ahead of R.E.M.

-- Anonymous, September 07, 2001

Oh, we're only 1,000 shy of overtaking The Works of Edgar Allen Poe.
